4 Stars.. getting close to 5 Stars..
The Gardens Casino in Hawaiian Gardens California has been completely redone. The Gardens was already a very popular casino in it's original tent construct but that is now gone and replaced with a very attractive new building (the project is still under construction as of this writing.. Sep. 2016).
The main facade off the parking lot is stately but lacks a big PUNCH. I would recommend they add some signage similar to what is done on the side and rear of the building (that signage is very nice but is viewed by traffic and employees (rear of building is for employees only I was told).
The current sidewalk that leads from the parking area is extremely narrow and doesn't have any visual appeal. Speaking of visual appeal once you enter the casino the lobby, it has a very nice fountain with a beautiful sculpture of golden dolphins and then directly behind the sculpture is a bar restaurant setting (a favorite area with customers). Overall the visual appeal is a bit dated but still a great improvement that makes for a nice experience. I have overheard some players saying they now consider HG to be the nicest LA casino. (Not yet for me but they are approaching that).
The management is doing a much better job recently (my take). I had considered the old management style to be a page out of the old west. I think the upgrade is helping to bring about a better image and efforts to make the casino experience much more enjoyable for those that are not packing (a bit of humor).
The action is always playing out in the two large rooms that make up live poker. You can get round the clock action here. The casino also accommodates the high roller with a private section set aside for that experience.
Finally the casino has plenty of room for daily tournaments. The sectioned tournament area is large; large enough to accommodate most events and it appears that it could easily expand into the live play area that is adjacent if it is necessary. Good design on that.
The events offered keep getting better and better. Action is the issue and Los Angeles casinos, HG included, are creating a lot of ACTION; increasing the money that can be won IS smart. The current tournament is a great example of this! I am referring to "The Gardens Poker Classic" which is drawing a lot of players from far afield (I met Chris Moneymaker yesterday on the break as I played in this tournament). The Classic has a guaranteed $3,000,000 prize pool... first place prize is at least $500,000 and a beautiful new Mercedes. Very low buy in and daily satellites make this doable for most players. A professional player told me that he played in a few of the qualifiers, winning some money but more importantly improving his starting chip count for the final (smart strategy, wouldn't you agree). This way yoou can also make some money as the tournament structure pays out at 10 percent of players and qualifies 6 percent to move forward towards grand final. This very popular tournament is being played out at four LA casinos; the final days play is scheduled in December at the famous Commerce...
Read moreThe food is very expensive and bad, you have to wait, at least 45 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes and your order arrives , average 45 minutes cold and it is a very long way to the kitchen and someone from the kitchen, brings it to the waiter. The bathrooms are very dirty all the time. They are dry toiletries, with no water to flush . They smell badly. They don't use specific rules or regulations for the games. Every, dealer, floormam and supervisor make their own decisions, which differ from each other and are usually wrong and confusing and different from all other casinos, I have been to.I could give you many example. All their employees, including the food supervisor, supervisors, doormen, dealers, food service and others, are very aggressive, unfriendly, rude, speak very bad English, disrespectful, lack knowledge and experience, without proper training. They are intolerant, shout at you, humiliate you and make you uncomfortable and disrespectful. Very much so, that at one time, I went to other casisinos for the period of 13 months and stayed away from this casinos and felt very happy.for example, early this morning it, after playing in.the casino for 6 hours. The dealer disrespected me badly and the floormam gave her a wrong advice, while I was banking. At the Paygaw. The supervisor snatches the glass of juice from my hand, scratching severely on my right hand, forcing me to have 6 stiches.at my right hand in the hospital and file a report and the complaint at the police precinct. He then kept shouting at me and the rating me and telling me that I am barred. I has no choice, but to curse him, the dealer and the casino out of frustration and despair..I assure that neither myself, nor my relatives, nor my friends, will ever enter your casino, .nor the members of the casinos association of Orange Count gamblers for the rest of my life.I was the owners( the doctor) very 1st customer, back in the trailer. May God have...
Read moreUpdated on April 2: The casino was opened over one month, they provide service outdoors with strict safety measures like everyone needs to wear a mask, keep social distance, they have too many spots for hands was in and hands sanitizing, no eating and drinking allowed in the poker area, if you want to drink and eat, you need to go to outdoors area to eat alone. When you are playing poker, each player will be isolated from others by a thick and tall glass wall. And the bad side is that it's hard to talk to a person next to you with thick glass walls and masks, but the good side is we are pretty safe here. Currently, the casino is closed before 6 am per day. This month casino is gonna move tables indoors, they have been working on this for a while, it would be in the same safe and cautious way. Anyway we will have a lot of Covid vaccine this month, please get vaccinated as soon as possible in this pandemic, hopefully, everything can go back to normal as soon as possible, let's all contribute a little to end the pandemic, stay happy, stay strong!
I went to this casino for around three years, most of the customers are regular customers, before the Covid pandemic, this place worked 24/7, but was closed three times in the pandemic, hopefully, they can recover sooner. The casino has good chairs, over 300 tables, the poker tables are around 160. The Poker tournament area is big and clean, there are big flat TVs anywhere, you can watch football, basketball, and boxing. The floor work very hard, you can order beer and cocktail before 2 PM, order food at any time, people in this place are friendly. This place is close to Long Beach, when you are tired you can go to the beach, and the outdoor air is clean and fresh, the parking lot is pretty big, but the busiest time is Friday night. It's a nice place to play poker cash games and tournaments, and you can also play with friends in the party...
