Blackjack Mulligan's Public House — Restaurant in Hawthorne

Ok so I am ashamed to have not taken pictures of our food. We always take photos but this time we didn't really think we would be reviewing. So I am upset that I didn't take a picture because this review will NOT be complete without it. First off from the moment you walk in the service is amazing. Everyone we had the pleasure of meeting was great, gracious, courteous and simply a delight to speak to. Now let's move on to the food, as many who follow these reviews know, I am somewhat picky with food and have a particular way of reviewing. But this is GREAT Bar food. Seriously one of the BEST if not the BEST burgers I've had. They do it right. The toast the bread before putting the burger and condiments on which makes it crispy. They then sear the burger giving it a crispy texture and forget it the bread is amazing. You need to try their stuffed burger. Now I also tried the Shepard pie macaroni and cheese and was shocked how good it was, loved it. Put biggest delight were the Irish Spring Rolls which are filled with corn beef and cabbage and were crazily insane. Loved it. We are now fans and will come back to update with photos. My fiancé and I went to the Hawthorne location for Saint Patrick’s day yesterday and it was terrible. We had a reservation for seven and we waited two hour for our food just for them to tell us they thought we already received it and they had run out. My fiancé is blind and he has a guide dog so people do not normally forget about him. We ended up having to order something else and got it to go since we had already been waiting for so long. I had the Irish nachos and they were cold and soggy. I would not recommend them. They originally tried to charge him for the food he did not receive but did end up catching it and fixing it in the end. We have been to the blackjack mulligans location in Garfield and they were amazing and accommodating but, after this experience, we would not recommend the Hawthorne location. There is no reason it took two hours to remember we were there. I understand it is busy but many tables came and went while we waited. Very upset and do not recommend. Stopped for lunch at Blackjack Mulligans Irish Pub in Hawthorne, NJ. The husband/wife team and chef are owner operators. They were fun, personable and provided exceptional service. You can dine in the bar area or dinning room, both have TV's set up making this a great destination as a sports bar, group gatherings or family. We ordered the Garlic Shrimp appetizer, it was flavorful and balanced. The garlic butter lemon sauce was great for dipping the bread, fries and we took the remainder home to serve over pasta. The crispy chicken on the sandwich roll was hand breaded, had great taste and with the added crispy bacon was a great choice. The fries were very crispy and hot. I was going to order the cajun dusted fries(forgot), but the regular were very good. The cheese quesadilla with chicken was great with lots of meat, onions, peppers and gooey cheese, I would recommend the addition of guacamole/avocado in the future.
