I genuinely have no idea why anyone would ever give this place less than a 4 star review... even on an imperfect or busy day everything is delicious and the staff is quick and helpful. Cupcake Heaven exceeds expectations when it comes to products and service and out runs many of the competitors in the area. Anything less than a 4 star review, in my humble opinion, says more about you than the products or the staff at Cupcake Heaven.
I can understand a margin of error, or a difference in reviewer experiences, but unless your consistently having a horrible time or getting a horrible product - get out of town with the negative criticism - you’re just bringing us all down. It is 2020 and no one has the time or energy for that. Small business are working hard to stay up and running. It is time to practice grace and share positive vibes!
Now that my review of negative reviews is complete - here is my business review:
Cupcakes are happy treats and Cupcake Heaven holds the secret recipe to these joyous little gems. They have mastered the frosting to moist cake ratio. Some of their cupcakes have delicious fillings. They offer a variety of flavors including weekly staples and a weekly rotating selection - you even get a sneak peak at nexts weeks upcoming flavors if you visit in house. Coffee and other treats are available and whenever the cream puffs come back I will be the first in line to get a batch. They offer a limited number of allergy friendly options and are willing to answer any questions you may have.
The team is responsive to emails and telephone calls and has always been impressive to work with. Everyone is willing to chat and assist as needed. It is a small shop, so when they get busy the space can fill quickly and you may need to pack a little patience. I assure you that any wait is minimal and 100% worth it!
I have been impressed with the options and flexibility Cupcake Heaven and the staff has demonstrated during COVID 19 and their recent relocation. I am thankful to have found a small business with a community focus and feel. Each visit is like stopping in at a neighbors house and I am sure to visit anytime we drive through or near Haymarket.
Thank you to the awesome staff! Keep up the great work and don’t let the naysayers get you down. Keep creating joyous goodies and the good times...
Read moreWe used to be regular customers of Cupcake Heaven. They made several milestone cupcakes for our family which was special. However, I feel compelled to review our past two experiences. The first being a few months ago when we picked up some cupcakes and upon getting them home they had a distinct fish smell. I called and shared the feedback and the person I spoke to shared that she had fish that night for dinner and it was very strong. That was a bit startling, but we appreciated her honesty. The second experience was today. I wanted to pick up a few cupcakes for a photo shoot for my daughters first birthday. I called and asked if they would mind doing a curbside given that I had two small kids in the car with me and didnt feel comfortable bringing them in with me (not an unreasonable request given these times). The person I spoke to immediately told me no, they arent doing that as they dont have enough staff. I kindly asked again and she said no, unwilling to bend. I was able to get someone to watch my children to come out and get the cupcakes and not a single customer in the store except me and at least three staff inside that i could see. I will not be giving them anymore business. The bad taste experience and now the poor customer...
Read moreI was out running errands and was looking for a coffee. Well cupcakes also ended up on the menu. This place is really cute. Small shop, really friendly staff. The debate was between one of the weekly specials or the regulars. Weekly specials won out.
I got a chocolate salted caramel cupcake and a s'mores cupcake to go. On the spot, I also got a small hot mocha. The coffee was good. A pretty standard mocha, leaning towards the sweeter side (not good or bad for that, just my take.)
We had the cupcakes at home later that evening. They were quite delicious. The s'mores had a frosting with a light marshmallow flavor and what I think was a bit of a vanilla/graham cake. I didn't pick up on any chocolate. The chocolate salted caramel had a nice buttercream frosting, lightly salted and a bit of caramel in the center of the chocolate cake. Both cakes were quite moist and I felt the frostings weren't overly sweet. I'm not usually one to care much for frosting and I ate all of it.
I'd say the cupcake size is sort of a smaller to medium. We split the two between two of us and it was a nice treat. You just won't get filled up with one.
Looking forward to exploring more...
