My wife is a regular here. We always tip 15-20% when we buy any food item and eat it there, and 9 times out of 10 my wife will leave a tip when sheās just running in to get a coffee ($8).
Yesterday, she ran in to grab a quick iced latte for herself and didnāt tip this time. The female barista taking the order immediately had a change in attitude. My wife is lactose intolerant and our 4 month son sheās breastfeeding has a dairy allergy as well. My wife confirmed twice with the barista that the coffee was going to be made with almond milk, thereās even almond milk written on the cup. My wife was first in line, but the barista goes ahead and makes the drinks of the 2 people that were behind her. There was no one left in line after so she decided to finally start on my wifeās drink.
My wife leaves, drinks the iced latte and realized something was off, but didnāt think twice. She drank half before getting an immediate stomach ache and realized the barista used regular milk. She was already 10 min away. When she called them, they go āoh⦠uh sorry about that. If you come back we can make you a new oneā so she drives all the way back for a new one. She then spends the rest of the day feeling sick and our 4 month old had to deal with stomach pains as well from the dairy.
Was she purposely given the wrong milk because she didnāt tip? Who knows. It certainly was not busy when my wife was there and you would think confirming twice, and seeing almond milk written on a cup would make you choose the correct milk.
Either way, weāre not going back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNever again. We literally just sat in Hidden Julles for an hour with our 7 year old waiting on breakfast. Our food apparently was given to someone else! Or the ticket didnāt make it to the kitchen. We received two different excuses. While during that time we walked out to see if a table was available to dine probably 10 times. Young white couple comes in with a baby and a group of white women finally decide to offer up their table. I suppose we were too dark for them to offer us their table or maybe we are just invisible. Needless to say we left without dining. As a member of this community it is sickening. I will NEVER dine here again. And yes to our white counterparts, we do exist and your excuse on why you didnāt offer us the table was BS. I had just walked out there. You just opted NOT to recognize me or my family.
4/29/2022 Update to Amber's response: So the other part to this was us being asked several times, "Are you sure you didn't get your food?" As if, we were lying. Although, the young lady running the register immediately offered our money back. Everyone else seemed surprised. The other side is that someone would actually eat someone else's order. But I suppose since the restaurant was busy, those customers felt just as entitled as the women sitting knowing you guys were busy. Again, not in your control and unfortunately just the way our society...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreItās been a while since Iāve been to Julles Cafe, I always try to stop by to at least grab a coffee whenever Iām in the area because they really never disappoint.
Today specifically was especially memorable because it was just one of those days I needed a pick me up. I ordered the Paleo Bowl, and a Caramel Almond Milk Latte. And as im going to pay im being handed my coffee (talk about service!) and then I look down at the payment screen at my card being declined, and here comes a mini panic attack as im holding a coffee I havent paid for and immediately Im apologetic and frantically looking at my bank apps to see whats wrong, all while their employee Olivia is assuring me its okay and to take my time. As I spent what felt like -forever- looking through my bank app to see what could possibly be wrong and I see card locked due to suspicious activity. ughh I look up in defeat as a last ditch effort before i start offering to be their janitor for the dayāWill you take venmo?ā & Olivia swooped in and quite literally saved my day I paid her through venmo, she paid on the card reader. And out comes my meal seconds later, the food and the coffee are always great there. But its employees like Olivia that make it worth it to repeat business time and time again. Truly appreciate all of her efforts of going above and beyond and reassuring me during my little...
