Burger King — Restaurant in Hays

For some stupid reason we decided to have Burger King on a road trip. Trying to place the order was bad, the counter person had the attention span of a freaking fly, each item we ordered we had to repeat two or three times. I think she had just come back from her break and smoked a little too much crack. After our meal was rung up and we were standing there waiting, I noticed they had charged me for an extra drink. I did not need an extra drink so I wanted my money back. Crackhead at the counter did not know how to refund to a credit card. She went to get the manager. The"Manager" did not know how to plus did not have permission to refund to a credit card. And stated the main manager would be back tomorrow and she could give me a refund. I should have run after we pulled up in the parking lot and it looking like it was closed because there was not one single damn car there. Chances are the locals know to avoid this place. I would suggest getting rid of the crackhead counter person. Get rid of the manager that can't manage because she don't have permission to do anything. Hire a new Main manager that has the smarts to hire well-trained people. Or at least people willing to learn. They also still owe me $3.49, for the extra, large drink I didn't want! And you probably guessed that I won't be going back to...

This place deserves zero stars and in reality should be shut down! Sat and waited over 20 minutes for my mobile order and finally went inside and asked how long my order was gonna be and the person that was at the window couldn’t even remember what order was mine! Then he goes oh you had the really big order (that wasn’t big at all) and hands me two bags so who knows how long it had been sitting there! Get home and find that every single thing on my order wasn’t edible because it was all so old! The nuggets couldn’t even be bitten through because they were so old! The fries were old and disgusting! Even the onion rings were bad and those are supposed to be cooked when they are ordered! Filed complaint thru the app and called the store and get excuses on both sides! The store wants me to come in and have them recook the food for us! Ya no thanks! Given this place way too many chances! It’s time to call the health department! What’s worse is I DoorDash there and when you have to go at night you don’t even know who’s working because a bunch of employees are standing outside smoking god knows what and not one person is in uniform! It’s really gross watching them come in from smoking and go right to handling food! No hand washing at all! A lot of them I wonder if they even know what soap...

I worked at Burger King for a few months, and honestly, it was the worst job environment I’ve ever been in. My general manager offered me a promotion to assistant general manager even though I was still trying to get the hang of the kitchen. I took it because I wanted to move up and needed the money, but once I did, I realized they had no interest in actually training me unless it somehow helped them. No matter how many times I asked to be trained, it never happened, and my pay never changed either.

On top of that, one of the managers I worked with would tell me to put new stickers and timers on expired food instead of throwing it out. I refused because I don’t believe in cutting corners with food safety. After I left, my general manager even admitted that we weren’t allowed to speak to anyone above her, which explained why all my attempts to raise concerns went nowhere.

The whole experience showed me how little respect there was for growth, fairness, or even basic decency. There’s a lot more I could say, but I mostly just wanted to put this out there so people know what it’s really like working there.
