I hate leaving bad reviews, but I felt the need to do so. My boyfriend & I decided to treat ourselves and we stopped by. First things first, the inside is gorgeous, it's beautifully decorated. Once we sat ourselves a young lady (who never smiled or introduced herself) came to our table and curtly said "what to drink???", we gave our drink order, she went and made it. She came back to the table, "ready to order yet?" So we rushed and put in a order just moments after getting a menu. She took our orders and walked away. He ordered the chicken salad and I ordered the club with fries. His salad came out almost 3-5 minutes after we ordered, she asked from across the restaurant "what sauce for your salad" and then she brought out his salad with a single small packet of ranch. Now if you've ever seen these salads, they are extremely large salads. She didn't hand him the dressing, instead she put it on the table and slid it to him even with his hand open for it. Then we waited 10 minutes for my food to come out. In the meantime he took a bite of his salad and immediately asked me to try it. Sure enough, the chicken was so tough and covered in salt, that I gagged. Finally my food was brought out. Sloppily plated, and just ridiculous. The fries were the only thing eaten in our visit. another waitress came to check on us and we just asked for the check and to go plates. $32 and we are almost nothing. I think you should save your money. The waitress really could've changed everything around but she was clearly unmotivated and mad as hell to be there. Lost...
Read moreWe are three adults originally from Germany, traveling with a baby and a toddler on our way up to Illinois, and we decided to stop at Restaurant 84 in Hayti — absolutely the right choice.
From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with genuine kindness. The staff was extremely friendly, patient, and wonderfully family-oriented. They immediately helped us with seating, provided a high chair, and treated our little ones like VIP guests.
The food was excellent — fresh, flavorful, and served quickly. The portions were generous, the prices fair, and everything tasted like true quality American comfort food. Even with two small children (and all the extra time and chaos that comes with that), the service stayed calm, attentive, and caring.
The restaurant itself is clean, cozy, and has that warm “travelers welcome” atmosphere that you don’t find everywhere. You can tell the team here really takes pride in their work.
For anyone traveling through — especially families — Restaurant 84 in Hayti is a real gem. We’ll definitely stop by again on our next trip...
Read moreWell, it was time for another trip to Missouri, so we stopped for a bite to eat at 84 Cafe. I have a thing for a good cheeseburger so that's what I went with. The patty was good-sized and looked handmade. The toppings were good, fresh lettuce, onion, pickles, and those tasteless things they call tomatoes. The brioche bun was toasted. The cheese was melty. So where were the seasonings? There was so much potential there to drop the ball, but that's what happened. The fries were bland as well. The hubby went with the chicken tenders, which came out at least 10 minutes after my food. It's not awkward at all eating in front of someone, said no one ever. He got a to go box when they came. We had to go hunt down our ticket to leave. We can mark this place off the list. W e probably won't try them again, but make up your own mind. Don't...
