Today is Thursday, September 4th, 2025, and around 4:55 PM my husband and I came here to Country Boy Restaurant here in Hazel Park. We were told to sit wherever we wanted, so we did. Right from the start, the waitress acted like we were bothering her just by being there.
I politely asked if there was somewhere I could plug in my phone since it was only on 10%. She snapped back, “No,” and then went on to tell me how the plugs blew out her own phone and she had to pay $52, then just walked away like she was annoyed to even deal with us.
When she came back, she asked what we were drinking. I said I’d like a lemonade, and that I know I’m gonna get a coffee to go. Her response: “I didn’t ask you what you wanted before you go.” Again, just rude. She walked off in slippers yes, slippers in a restaurant, as if this was her living room, not a place of business.
She came back a minute later asking if we knew what we wanted to eat. I ordered the Super Breakfast and politely asked if I could get all bacon instead of sausage and ham. I even told her I’d pay an upcharge if that’s cool and her response was “I don’t know if that’s cool or not, but I’ll write it down and I said I’m sorry and she said Whatever.” My husband asked for all sausage (same breakfast), and she just said “whatever” to him too.
At that point, I told her that we come here from Monroe Michigan yes an hour drive and we pay for uber or lyft to bring us which is a hefty price but for my hubby and I to have a special cute night with memories its worth it! we come once a month sometimes twice in a month but always in the earlier day and that we’ve always loved this little cozy spot for years. It was our date spot. But the way we were treated tonight was beyond unacceptable. She mumbled things under her breath while walking away and was talking to the cook about us. My husband and I just got up and left. We didn’t wait for our food, we didn’t touch the drinks, and we will never go back.
The food has always just been basic Coney Island, but the charm of the place was in how cozy it felt and how sweet the day shift women usually are. They’ve always been wonderful. But this woman ruined it. She was a heavier-set woman, tan complexion, with very short pixie-cut hair, wearing slippers. I didn’t catch her name, but she should not be serving customers.
I honestly would like to speak to the owner or the main manager about this because I can’t imagine they would want to lose good business over someone like her. We drive all the way from Monroe just to come here, and we spend good money for our nights out. But not anymore. This used to be our cozy little restaurant, but after tonight, we’ll never give them our business again.
They really need to think about who they have working there, because that one woman will cost them a lot of customers.
We have been coming here on and off the last 3 years but today...
Read moreVery disappointed... Spent $30 to wait and watch their staff argue over garlic toast instead of filling the order. Took 12 minutes once it was requested, again and the cook just wanted to argue it.
Owner / manager not available to talk to anyone, even though they were sitting in the lobby..
After food went cold while waiting I expected a refund in front of owner, who again didn't care

In response to your reply... yes I did request a refund after you refuse to get me a manager and after I waited 15 minutes for two pieces of garlic bread and the rest of my food was cold.
the wait staff who I know who was responding to this was running around stressed out and made several comments to me on how it was too busy and they needed help.
that same waitress was the one who caused the issue with the garlic bread by giving garlic bread to the wrong customer after they had them waiting for over 20 minutes on hold the same waitress who was arguing back and forth with the cook .
Bottomline... you dropped the ball and instead of trying to deflect you just...

Waitress teased me for getting Sweet and Low saying 'the pink stuff is for girls, blue is for boys, and yellow is for transgender'. She also made a point to tell the booth next to ours I got the girls pink stuff and laughed about it before handing it to me. 👎
The place was packed with the one sexist waitress slowly working the tables. Rest the wait staff wasn't interested in working. They were huddled around a phone talking all kinds of drama the entire time. 👎
The food wasn't that great. Got the country skillet which was very basic and overloaded with 99% potatoes, a little gravy, a very small amount of scrabbled egg saugue and cheese. Toast was the best part. 👎
The owner was nice. To bad she allows her staff to push her around, ignore their jobs, and make extremely sexist jokes. I mean everyone heard this uneducated so called joke. Only the waitress who said it laughed several times. 👎
I give the 'Country Boy' a piss poor 2 out of 10. Which would of been a zero if it wasn't for the owner. No reason to...
