J ZAPATA MEXICAN RESTAURANT BAR — Restaurant in Hazle Township

Double disappointment! 😒😒 Company had them cater for our holidays. Truck came out to deliver to every shift (24 hour operation). Food was dry, not enough protein and much more rice than anything else… some small traces of beans.😒

So, after we complained, they gave vouchers for a free taco. Not a replacement meal to make up for the “bad taste” in the experience. Nonetheless, I decided to go over to the restaurant and get the free taco. I also figured I could use some additional food, which I ordered to be the same as the “free taco” on the voucher. The waitress took a while… didn’t know what to do with the voucher, called the owner, who got on the phone and said that she would take care of my order. The place was empty… it was roughly 12:40 on a Friday afternoon… should have no confusion, but she managed to order a meal with a taco as the main entree instead of just adding another taco. I was obviously perplexed at the price of just a taco. The price was fine after realizing that she had ordered the whole meal-(no drinks), according to the menu, it was going to be $12+ tax. So I was already late, as soon as I got the food in a bag, I too my credit card, paid for the food using the card reader. It came to $15.42… I didn’t even check the bill until I got to the car. I came back inside and asked her to itemize the charges. She explained it was the credit card fees that I was charged! 😠. I had never gone to a restaurant and pay for the credit card fees. Food was good. The service was beyond bad. We were the only table there and our waitress seemed like we were a bother to her. I had find my own utensils after our meal was brought, I asked for extra lime with my order, and it did not come out with my order, I politely asked her if I could get the extra lime she was rude to me when she brought it back. We had to ask to get our check after waiting about 10 minutes. The next time I want tacos I’ll just make them at home. I will say the owner was great. The food was OK. Not authentic Mexican food. Overpriced for the portions. The tacos are not normal size, they are considered Street Tacos. Ordered Steak Tacos, lady told me that would be Beef Tacos. Not what I actually wanted, they use some type of pulled beef NOT steak. I'm not from PA so this type of food is normal in this area. I'm part Mexican, I wouldn't recommend it.
