There is much speculation of the Native Coffee farmers that first brought this libation into the world. When delving into the origins of the caffeinated beans, one will undoubtedly hear of Ethiopia. The legend endures; a farmer, "Kaldi," when noticing his goats suddenly burst with vigor after eating the hillside plant, began cultivating the beans for himself. It is also fair to include Yemen, coffee beans delivered from the nations Mokha (Mocha) port, or the Indonesian-Dutch island named "Java". These legends of Native Coffee cultivation are as invigorating as the beans themselves. Today we arrive at our recent experience. Here in the quaint little town of Helendale, Ca, we indulge ourselves with a comfy seat, a good book, and some well-deserved pause and introspection at our very own Native Coffee House.

I ordered a dirty matcha latte with Swiss water decaf espresso and almond milk, and it was absolutely perfect. The matcha was smooth and vibrant, the decaf espresso added just the right depth without any harshness, and the almond milk tied it all together. I seriously appreciate that they use Swiss water decaf (no chemicals!) and offer a great variety of plant-based milks.
The space itself is calm, stylish, and welcoming -- the kind of place you can hang out in for hours. Whether you're looking to relax, get some work done, or just grab something on the go, they've nailed it.

My typical order is an iced vanilla latte but I ventured out and tried the Spring Latte (coconut and raspberry) and I’m SO glad I did! I’m already plotting when I can go back for another. It was straight up addictive! My son order the South Lake iced latte and loved it.
The shop is adorable and it’s obvious that a lot of thought and design was put into making it an inviting and cozy space. The books and games are a thoughtful touch!
