Tonight, my mom, sister, & 2-year-old son had dinner at Agaves. Perhaps my sister & I expected a higher level of service than we received because we are also in the restaurant industry.
After we finished our meal, my sister & I stacked our dirty dishes on the table to be considerate. Unfortunately, we waited nearly 30 minutes without anyone coming by to clear them. During that time, my son accidentally knocked over an empty margarita glass as he was getting out of the booth. I quickly cleaned up the broken glass & placed the pieces back on the table. Instead of helping us with the mess on the floor or clearing away the dirty dishes, the staff was more focused on charging me for the broken glass.
The "manager" informed us that we would be charged for the glass because it was โexpensive.โ The waitress mentioned they didnโt want to bother the actual boss since she was on vacation. Then, another "boss," who was at the front, claimed he had called the boss & that she had instructed him to charge us $10 for the glass, so they were doing me a favor by only charging me $5. It felt dishonest & unreasonable.
To make matters worse, their checks have no descriptions, just a list of prices without any context. How can a restaurant justify charges without any explanation? I am confused & frustrated, especially when the manager stated that if I didnโt pay for the glass, the waitress would have to cover the cost herself!
The lack of professionalism, inconsistency in information, & overall disregard for customer service made this experience very disappointing. Rather than focusing on customer satisfaction, their primary concern seemed to be collecting money for a broken glass.
UPDATE TO OWNER: Your response completely misses the point. The handling of the broken glass situation was unprofessional. Instead of assisting us or acknowledging the issue, your staff was fixated on charging me, which shows a clear priority for money over customer service.
Even after we left, approximately 30 minutes after the glass broke & an hour after we finished eating, our table still had stacked dirty dishes, broken glass pieces, & a wet spot on the floor.
When I mentioned that the charge sounded like a scam, it was because a standard itemized receipt is essential in any restaurant, yet yours lacks clarity & fails to explain any of the charges. Also, if the glass is $6.37 each, why was I told that the "boss" instructed the staff to originally charge me $10?
I accept responsibility for the accident & did not mind paying for the glass, that was not the issue & your reply only reinforces how fixated your restaurant is on money instead of improving professionalism & customer...
ย ย ย Read moreVisited for first time about 3pm on a Friday and were only customers there (although more came in the closer it got to 5pm). Smaller inside than we expected but still plenty of space. To sum up, food was tastier and cheaper than other un-named Mexican restaurant in town (located in downtown Henderson). I expected it to be exactly the same but was pleasantly surprised.
Speaking of "the same", me and my friend ordered the exact same thing we had eaten at the "other" restaurant one week prior, so it's a true apples-to-apples comparison. My steak burrito covered in queso had a better flavor than elsewhere. Companion's chicken fajitas had more and he said tasted better as well. Since we ordered right before the 3pm lunch discount cutoff, my burrito was $3 less than elsewhere...and no lunch portion either! This thing was as big as the "other" place's "Kentucky burrito". Huge! Barely could eat it all.
Chips were warm, fresh, and plentiful. No stale chips here. Salsa was tasty.
One minor downside: If you're wanting a frozen margarita, you'd better like a traditional/lime or strawberry 'cause that's all they have. 3 full-time frozen margarita machines going, 2 lime and 1 strawberry. No mango, blackberry, peach, etc flavors here. Made with at least double the alcohol you'd find elsewhere, so keep that in mind if driving.
Female server was outstanding! Nice and super attentive.
Overall our new "go-to" Mexican...
ย ย ย Read moreThe only thing worse than the quality of the food was the server's personality. My wife ordered the chimichanga agave and it was clearly microwaved. The dish had cold spots throughout and the queso was watered down to the point it was soaking into the tortilla and made a soggy pile of half warmed garbage on a plate that was hotter than the "food". My dish was very similar. I ordered the chimichanga that had shrimp included... There is nothing quite like biting into a soggy wet half hot half cold pile of goo. The flavors of both dishes were on par with the cheapest microwave dinner you could find if you were to boil it in dirty sock water. (not from personal experience but what I would imagine it to be like). The server was bad. He responded to us saying thank you with "yeah" as he walked away before actually waiting for a response and at one point stopped 5 feet away from the table saying "you need something?" when we said thank you... This is ironic, because he was very much non existent when we were trying to ask a question about the menu. We left after taking a few bites. We both have upset stomachs today, and will not return. We should have noticed the red flags as soon as we realized the food came out faster than it took the server to take our order.
To sum it up... Disgusting food and we're both feeling it...
