Long John Silver's — Restaurant in Henderson

Ok, things were not looking particularly good for this review at the beginning. There was about 7 cars stretched around the building when I visited tonight around 7:15pm or so. So, I decided to go in and order carryout instead. There was already one older gentleman in line. I assumed he had already ordered and was waiting for his food. After about 5 minutes I heard a voice behind the counter tell someone there was another customer at the counter.

And then...the wait began. The drive thru had absolutely slammed the employees. After 20 minutes someone asked the gentleman in front of me what he'd like. The poor man hadn't even ordered yet! He just wanted 2 fish sandwiches for him and his wife (I had a vision of his wife, back at their place, hungry and wondering where her husband was). Surprisingly, 2 minutes later the girl at the counter took my order as well.

Long ordering story short, I was inside for 49 minutes (I know, I looked) to get an order for 4 people (3 of which were all chicken). The lady who I assume was the manager WAS very apologetic at the end, however. The order was mostly correct but, on checking, I did have to walk back up to the counter and get a missing coleslaw.

Here's where things begin to look up: You know what? Everything tasted pretty good. Yes, it's Long John Silvers. Yes, it's all fried. Yes, I know it's not healthy. With that said, nothing tasted like it was cooked in old oil. Everything was still all hot when I got it home. We ate it all, even our picky kids. Now, part of that could be because everyone was starved by the time I finally got home.

But, I dare say this was probably the best tasting LJS...

I usually have a good experience here but not tonight. Ordered mobile for pickup and was ready when I arrived. Employees were friendly. That's it for the positives.

The shrimp in the shrimp tacos was rubbery and tasted like it soaked in lime juice for hours and hardly any Baja topping. Not worth over $7 for 2 little tacos.

I ordered my usual fish and chicken platter. Wow. There was no way either the fish or chicken was even close to fresh. Both were terribly dry and the batter tasted old and was stale. The hushpuppies were gummy. The coleslaw, all 2 or 3 bites of it had almost no dressing. Even the "crunchies" were mostly soft and stale.

Most of the food ended up in the trash. Total waste of $25. Doubtful...

Usually everything is perfect. But this trip was very disappointing. There were 3 of us, only a couple other customers, but still when we received our food it was cold. I also had to ask for fresh tarter sauce because something else was mixed in the container with it. Also was given green beans and had to go back to the counter to ask for my fries as well as the fish I ordered that I didn't get. Coleslaw was perfect. We spent about 30.00 and that trip was a waste of time and money. We will go back there because usually it's perfect. Just would have appreciated a discount for our...
