Several of us in our family went to celebrate my grand daughters birthday with dinner and a birthday cake at Jalapeño Tree, in Henderson, Texas. Well I have to say that ALL of us, (we were a party of 7), were EXTREMELY disappointed with the food at this location, as well as the lack of attention from the on site manager. First complaint we had, that there was a hair in one of the bowls of hot sauce, which we brought this to the attention of the on site manager and all he did was remove the bowl from our table and say, 'Oh, sorry'. Second complaint was that the food was taking FOREVER to be served to our table. From the time our server took our order to the time our order was delivered to the table, it was a total of approximately 40 minutes. We did not order anything that would have taken that long to cook, so this is totally unacceptable!! We ordered tacos, burritos, enchiladas, 2 child's plates, and tamales. Even our server came to our table, TWICE and said she was not sure what was taking so long in the kitchen, but that our order would be out shortly. The restaurant was not extremely busy, so that was not an excuse, whatsoever. Third complaint was that the food arrived to the table, cold! When we brought it to the attention of our server, we were told that she could take each plate back to the kitchen to get warmed up, but that it may take a little while because the kitchen was backed up with orders. So it was up to us on what we wanted to do. We had 7 people in our party! For each plate to go back to the kitchen and get warmed up, God only knows how much longer that would have taken and we just said forget it! And the final complaint was that several of our plates were missing things off of them. One plate did not get the queso on the chicken burrito, another one did not get it either, etc, a long with a few other issues. I could go on and on, but I think this review speaks for itself! We will probably NOT be returning to this restaurant any time soon, unfortunately. I honestly think the management COULD have done a better job of making...
Read moreEDITED: I wanted to follow up on the review I left regarding a billing error at Jalapeño Tree. I was recently contacted personally by Paul, the owner, who offered a sincere apology and took full responsibility for the oversight. He assured me that the staff will be receiving additional training on the correct way to bill à la carte items moving forward.
I truly appreciate his professionalism and the time he took to reach out directly. It’s clear he genuinely cares about the customer experience, and that means a lot. Thank you, Paul, for your response and commitment to improvement.
The food and service at this restaurant were both absolutely amazing. Our waiter was attentive, and the quality of the meal exceeded expectations. However, the experience was unfortunately overshadowed by a frustrating issue with the billing.
I ordered three à la carte fajita enchiladas, expecting to be charged individually or at a reasonable combo rate. Instead, I was surprised to see the charges come out to $28—broken down as a $13.29 combo (which includes rice and beans, though none were ordered) and three separate $4.99 charges for the enchiladas. When I asked for clarification, I was told this was just how it had to be rung up, despite the fact that no combo was actually served.
I asked to speak with a manager, hoping for a simple explanation or correction. Unfortunately, her response was even more disappointing. She told me that if the enchiladas were rung up differently, they would cost $10 each, and she refused to adjust the price. She even admitted she didn’t agree with the way it was keyed in or the pricing, and then shifted the blame to our waiter for not warning us about an upcharge. I wasn’t asking for anything free—just to be fairly and accurately charged.
In the end, I paid the full amount, but I left feeling taken advantage of. As much as I enjoyed the food and service, I will not be returning to this location due to the poor handling...
Read moreLet me start off by saying when we eat Jalapeno Tree we always go to the one in Kilgore and have never had any issues. We were in Henderson and stopped by but our waitress from the get go seemed to be bothered, by what I don't know. Then they bring our food and our veggies were sauteed instead of steamed, so my daughter sent her food back and I kept mine. But then I notice my plate did not have the sauce it was suppose to have, it's suppose to be under the cheese said the waitress which I know because I always get the same thing but it was not there. My husbands fish was hard instead of flaky!! By this time I'm really bothered because she hadn't come by to ask us if we needed anything we had to flag her down for anything we needed. Never got extra napkins we using all the same damn one. Ok, I'm literally half way done with my chicken when I look down and my chicken is bloody!!! Are you freakin kidding me, by this time I feel I need to speak to the manager as soon as she comes up to the table before I could say anything she says that they took care of the two plates that were wrong, I did tell her she needed to tell the kitchen that they needed to pay more attention because my chicken was bloody. She just shook her head!! I did not speak to the manager which I should have and I did take a pic of the receipt where it says kitchen error but I should have took a picture of my bloody chicken but I was so furious by then I just wanted to get the hell out of there. Even though I did not pay for my plate I still am upset at the fact that there were so many issues and our evening...
