Hands down the best restaurant that I've been to in the last 6 months. Extremely clean, great atmosphere, wonderful wait staff, wheelchair accessible, and I can't say enough about the food. Taste and portions are superb, as is the presentation. I ordered a salad and asked what it came in, a bowl or taco shell bowl. Our waitress said, "It comes in a big bowl." She was serious! It was the biggest salad I've ever had at a restaurant. The bowl was bigger than a mixing bowl (see picture/video). Also, Tia has live music during certain days of the week (I've forgotten the specific days), and there is a large bar (for those who drink) and big TVs everywhere. Very intriguing decor. The restaurant was very clean. Overall it's a very fun place, we'll be back. Something that made all of us feel very important was the General Manager, Mr. Preston took the time to stop by our table and asked if everything came out good and if we were full. He held a nice conversation with us. He was a wonderful gentleman who sincerely cares about every customer who walks in. You must drop by and get your fill on some of the best food in East Texas.

This place is always packed on a weekend and I have wanted to try it out for several months. While I am glad we tried it, we will not be back as there are better food selections in the town for Mexican and fish. We went at lunchtime on a Wednesday when it was not so busy. This is a restaurant that can not figure out what it wants to be. It has an interesting venue- fish, mexican, and even possibly smoked cajun. Our order was beef fajitas. If you come here, expect to pay for your chips and salsa as an appetizer, where if you went to a true mexican restaurant you would have received it complimentary. The meat tasted like it had been smoked prior to being grilled. If you like to ‘socialize and party’ this may be the place for you. It has 11 frozen margarita machines with a well stocked bar. Tv has sports playing next to the bar. As a foodie, just not our kindof place.

My husband and I have eaten here twice in the last couple of weeks, and this review is an average rating of the first visit (5) and today’s visit (3). The first time was excellent (seafood enchiladas and blackened snapper), but this time was good but not exceptional. My Cajun Girl po’boy was delicious, but not really a po’boy - the sauce over the shrimp and bread made it necessary to eat with a knife and fork, and the bread was a soggy mess by the time I finished the half I ordered. The seasoned fries were cooked well, but obviously frozen, and the seafood gumbo was okay but nothing special. The same can be said for my husband’s blackened chicken and grilled veggies. Tasty, but nothing special. We will return, though, because the first time was so good!

So we were in there on Monday at noon with a party of 20 and believe me I waited tables for 33 years at Red Lobster and I know how hard it is to work a big party all by yourself. And my server was just as sweet as she could be especially under the circumstances but i've never had to wait that long on my food and drinks, anywhere Nor would I have ever made anyone wait that long and we all had just been to a funeral. I do not blame this on my server much because what she had to do was pretty overwhelming she had a party of 20 and it looked like a couple of maybe 6 to 8 tops Going on also. And maybe more I don't know. It's too much she should've had a helper. I mean I know it's Monday and there was probably not a lot of people scheduled but there should be more than one person on a party of 20 it just takes too long to get your drinks, and take the order and put the order in. I don't know if my fried shrimp was leftover or cooked first and got old tasting but I've had fried shrimp at your establishment several times they're always delicious even left over when I got back to Austin but these were chewy and not fresh. Everything else I had was very good my daughters food was good My granddaughters food was good. Anyway I pretty much blame this on management I don't know if they were in the back cooking but before the order was even turned in ,they could've been helping her get drinks and take half the order . It took her forever to bring out one tray of drinks and then she had to go back and get another tray of drinks. My husband never gets irritated And he was so irritated I mean my butt hurt from Sitting so long . We were there for 2 hours . Most of it was waiting on food and drinks. We had to wait on our drinks about 25 minutes then our food for over an hour. Then we all just ate fast and left. And then we had to drive back to Austin. It was pretty miserable. I had no idea it was gonna take this long or we would not have even gone in because we had to drive back to Austin just wanted to get something to eat before we went. My advice to anyone with a large party don't eat here because they don't know how to accommodate...

I'm not sure why so many locals enjoy this place. For the uninitiated, think "Applebee's" but with a lot more fish selections.

The fajitas were flavorless and cut with the grain, so they were very chewy. The chips and salsa (not included with the meal) had oversalted chips, and the salsa tasted like it came out of a jar. The roast beef sandwich was pretty good, but it's really hard to mess up a slow-roasted chuck roast. Besides, we didn't come for roast beef sandwiches. We came for Mexican inspired fare. Nothing else seemed to tantalize the senses for one of our party, so they went the safe route with a sandwich.

Don't get me started on the gumbo. Being so close to the Louisiana line and a fish restaurant, you'd figure they'd put out a passable pot. The roux was burnt, watery, and very thin on meat. Not to mention that it came out lukewarm. It was seasoned poorly. Overall it tasted like the nearby Sabine river but burnt somehow. Considering that it was still edible and had the essence of a gumbo, as if a real gumbo was made next to it and the flavors wafted themselves over to a pot of burnt river water, I'll give it a 4.2/10.

The service was awful with only 1 refill, which wouldn't have been bad if we hadn't waited an hour for our food. I understand that it was a Sunday afternoon, but the manager needs to plan for that. The place was by no means packed, either.

I'm not even sure why this app is offering me to rate the atmosphere, as it's really subjective, but if you're counting leftover crumbs on your table and chairs as decor, it's not that great. If you've seen Super Troopers and remember the description of the "Shenanigans" restaurant, that pretty much sums...

A Culinary Delight

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5 stars)

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tia Juanita's Fish Camp, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Nestled by the water, the ambiance was charming and inviting, providing the perfect backdrop for a delightful meal.

The menu offered an impressive array of fresh seafood options, and each dish showcased a perfect blend of flavors and creativity. From the perfectly seasoned grilled fish to the mouthwatering shrimp tacos, every bite was a culinary delight. The chefs at Tia Juanita's truly know how to elevate seafood to an art form.

The service was outstanding - attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Our server went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. The attention to detail did not go unnoticed.

The restaurant's commitment to using high-quality, fresh ingredients was evident in every dish, and the presentation was impeccable. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed, making it an ideal spot for both casual dining and special occasions.

Tia Juanita's Fish Camp exceeded my expectations, and I can confidently say it's one of the best seafood establishments I've had the pleasure of visiting.
