Toasted & Roasted — Restaurant in Henderson

We recently moved into our new home and had noticed a shopping center on the highway that was being renovated. Long story short, the shopping center at Calico Ridge has been closed for some time but is being renovated and is looking great. There are lots of new shops and restaurants opening there and Toasted & Roasted caught our eye.

We are always looking out for great coffee and breakfast places, so we stopped at Toasted & Roasted to grab an espresso. The Staff were very inviting and gave us a tour while we waited on our coffee. Toasted & Roasted (T&R) is not just a cute name – they roast the beans on premise! The roaster is right beside the dining room. We received our espresso and headed out. It had a smooth flavor and we agreed to come back.

A couple of weeks later we decided to try breakfast at T&R. We were again, warmly greeted and shown to a table in the dining room. Our server came over and introduced herself – Kahlen – and she was delightful. She explained the roaster to us and went over the menu items with us. We were surprised at the offerings – just reading the various types of French toast will make you even more hungry.

The Mrs. decided to have a “Build Your Own 3 Egg Omelet” and I decided on the Steak & Eggs. Kahlen made a few suggestions (grilled ciabatta bread was great!) and made sure our drinks stayed full.

One item we’ll touch on here are “breakfast potatoes”. We’ve found these offered at various breakfast restaurants around town and they’re usually chopped/quartered potatoes griddled with onions & peppers and spices. We’re used to hash browns and are trying to get used to these potatoes.

While the breakfast potatoes at T&R are good, the grits are awesome! There is an extra charge but take it from a couple of Southern transplants, these folks know how to cook grits!

Kahlen brought our food out as it came up (she asked about this, and we prefer to get it this way) and everything was piping hot. The Mrs. had a beautiful omelet and my steak, and eggs were perfect. The bread was fresh and toasted just right.

We were lucky that we had breakfast a little late and Kahlen had a chance to chat with us. She could not have been sweeter and told us about other dishes to try – we mentioned the various French Toast offerings plus she advised the shrimp and grits were great. She was a great spokeslady for T&R.

Our final bill for breakfast was $53.00 with the Mrs. being $17.52 and mine being $23.99 plus drinks. We felt it was a fair price for an excellent breakfast and the great service provided by Kahlen.

We feel Toasters & Roasters is a great value and we hope the renewal of the Calico Ridge Center will be great for their business.

Found this place while searching for a breakfast place. Since it was down the street from us we decided to give place a try. Walked in and was promptly greeted by a woman in the front with wavy hair making drinks for guest eho already dining. Welcomed and told us to enjoy. A great start for a new place that has 4.5 stars. We were taken to the table and menus were placed we were not informed who our server was. Only saw 2 servers at the moment. There were about 4-5 tables sat and had already eaten or was about to eat. We were still not greeted or asked if we wanted drinks (4-5 minutes) onr server delivered food to the table behind us and had messed up their eggs, but the guest said just switch it, but the server insisted that she will get it made over. Still NO acknowlegement that we were there. When she walked to the table behind us we made quick eye contact, but still no hello, how are you, do drink order. Had to be a good 10 minutes from when we entered and sat. A table had walked in 5 minutes after us and had a server great, taking their order. I guess our business means nothing to them since we are a young bi-racial couple. We spoke briefly to see if we will stay and see if anyone will acknowlege. Still no one and we had to be in the restaurant for about 15 minutes. We decided to walk out and still no one stopped or said anything. Im sure the food would have been great, but we didnt have the opportunity to enjoy it. We are solely rating this restaurant on SERVICE. We decided to spend our money and time at Omelet House where we know service and food is consistant. We received our food in a shorter time then we spent our time at "Toasted and Roasted" If you decide to dine at Omelet house for breakfast Geo is great!!! Don’t miss this Breakfast- Lunch - Brunch Treat. At just 4-Months opening it’s gaining popularity in this off the vision of driving down the road. Highlights : ⭐️ Fresh Brewed coffee ☕️ that is roasted on site ! Take a look 👀 coffee pitcher left on table. ⭐️ Fresh Squeezed Orange 🍊 Juice as ordered ⭐️ Steak and Eggs 🍳 it’s a Real Steak 🥩 and eggs were made to order French style were you roll the eggs as you cook. My picture shows how they are a single unit vs all over beat up while Cooking. Yes it takes a bit longer as you done leave them while your cooking. Pay attention to the details on food quality. Readers agree a clean rest room may be indication to the kitchen and food prep. In this case the kitchen is open on the side so you can see clean neat and organized.
