Viva Tequila — Restaurant in Henderson

If you live around here and you want this location to have success, write a review. Keep it open, keep it thriving. The back of the bar has a beautiful scenic view of the strip that should be enjoyed. Seriously, stop in real quick and get a cocktail while sitting over there. Maybe that will convince you to write a review!

Food: Been here once to get appetizers. We will be back for entrees. The chicken taquitos are not only tasty with a nice green salsa, but it is also presented differently: in a large bowl as they sit in the sauce coming out almost like a floral arrangement. It's practical! The tortilla soup is better than most places and will be ordered every single time we go. The baja tacos are a hit with my wife.

Tip: If you judge Mexican food places on the salsa, ask for the hotter salsa that goes on the tacos for dipping. The house salsa is wimped down by quite a bit. It is still good, though.

We came to Cocina Cantina to celebrate my husband's birthday, and it was our first time dining here. From the moment we walked in, the warm welcome set a great tone for the evening. As we were seated, we were brought chips and salsa—and I always "judge" a Mexican restaurant by its salsa. This one was really good!

My husband ordered the queso dip, and it was absolutely amazing. For our mains, we had the chicken enchiladas and the tacos de carne asada—both were delicious and full of flavor. The menu is simple and on the shorter side. While it's not a purely traditional Mexican menu (you'll find things like hamburgers and chicken wings too), the food we tried was excellent.

I really wanted to like this place. The building and seating is very nice, but the food just let us down. I have never had bland quesabirria taco's before, but it happened. Store-bought chips and salsa really don't help either.

The band plays a nice collection of music my parents might have liked, and I am just over 50. This place is just not our scene.

The box is checked, with so many great options down on water street I do not think we will return unless something major changes.
