The coffee is Amazing, the Staff is very friendly and the Accouterments, inside with comfortable couches and seating and outside picnic tables makes this a great place to stop by for a quick pick me up or sit down and visit with friends. With a selection of local beers on tap and an assortment of sandwiches, Appalachian is much more than a coffee shop, it has something for everyone. Speaking of which, they offered a special Valentines bakery gift box that was just scrumptious. My lovely wife has now mentioned it several days after Valentines Day, prompting me to write this review. We are so happy to have you here. We're very happy that you have stayed open during the worst of this pandemic and we look forward to much more business with Appalachian Coffee over the next days, months and years.
Addendum 1/6/23
Dear Appalachian, I have to say that when you guys moved in and opened it was like a dream come true. You’ve been here actually before the Ecusta was approved and your business is Exactly what we want and need on the trail And in our neighborhood. We are very sorry that you’re leaving and I’ll hold out hope that things might change before I see you close your doors. I know of neighbors who frequent you almost every day. Friends of mine and I met there to discuss our latest books. You had the best coffee and the best pastries for Valentines Day. Please let your landlord know that you are very much appreciated in many ways and that your role would only increase when the trail is paved and pedestrian traffic increases. As far as your staff.. I made a point to learn names in the early days but as time went on I was comforted to know that everyone who worked there was happy, friendly and well yes, neighborly. Let’s face it anyone can make their own coffee everyday so it takes a special draw to get people to go shopping. You had that special something and hold on to it when and wherever you reopen. Nonetheless and thank you for the heads up, I and we as a neighborhood, hope you can stay.

Read moreI was being so rushed through my order that I was told my total before I was done ordering (this is how you loose money) I was not asked if I need help with an order that was obviously too big for one person to carry (this is basic customer service that is even more important in the food industry) When I dropped part of my order because I had no assistance and it was too much for one person, I was ignored by all employees (this is how you loose repeat customers)
What should have happened and what I expect is someone initially happy to help with a good attitude taking my order completely; even if they're having a bad day and the good attitude is missing, they should wait ask if there is anything else before giving a total. I should have been offered a drink carrier or an extra hand, although the first would suffice perfectly. Finally, when I did drop a drink due to the ill service, I would expect an employee to help me clean up and to offer a new drink. This is the worst customer service I've experienced in a while. I hope the food and drink is...
Read moreI really really WANT to like this place, I’ve given them so many chances, but every time I leave frustrated. They consistently forget to get started on food orders, often I have to ask/remind them to start on my food, even when they have no new orders coming in and are just standing around. They seem to have a high staff turnover rate and the new people can’t make espresso for the life of them, constantly overheating it. More often than not I am met with poor/unenthusiastic attitudes from the younger staff. Again, I really have tried to give this place a shot. Their atmosphere and location are amazing...but the staff just consistently drop the ball/don’t seem well trained. Please Appalachian Coffee, make your staff make the extra effort in customer service, and I promise you your business could go far....until...
