I brought my son in for breakfast about a week ago. We wanted to try a small, local restaurant. We went inside and were quickly told to wait outside after we gave them our name. The wait was about 15 minutes - no problem. We were sat at a table with another couple (one seat between us). I let the server know this was our first time here. My son and I ordered our drink and breakfast. They were busy so it took a little time, again, no problem. Once we were done eating, we never got our check. The man sitting next to me asked for our checks and the server brought them in a few minutes. We walked up to the register to pay. After looking at my check, we were charged an additional $1 per egg and also charged $1.50 for extra gravy (which we never ordered). I asked the lady at the register why we were charged for eggs when they came with what we ordered and let her know we did not order extra gravy. She was VERY loud and rude and went on and on about how the cost of eggs is higher now due to the bird flu and that if I went to the grocery store, I would know that. She also said they have signs posted - but no sign on the menu, and we were rushed outside to wait so how would I see that sign? As for the extra gravy charge, she took $1.50 out of the register and slapped it on the counter. I paid my bill and left. I will never ever come back here and have already told my coworkers about my experience. Not to my surprise, one of them had a similar experience. If you want overpriced breakfast and embarrassingly yelled at when you ask about your check - this...
Read moreSo, I'm not trying to be nasty, but I don't get the hype about this place. We just ate there. It was $95 (inc tip) for 2 adults and 3 kids. All drinks were $3.50 each, even the small kid's milk, which is about 6oz in a 8oz cup. My one daughter got the kid's french toast. It was undercooked (too doughy), so she wouldn't eat it. We ordered her one egg and a side of toast. The server forgot about it. Had to ask again. One egg is $2, which is average, but the side of toast (TWO SLICES!) is $3.25. And it wasn't even good, kind of cardboardy and not enough butter. One person had hashbrowns and asked for them cooked hard (almost burnt). Not only were they not cooked hard, they were also undercooked. Hard and crunchy, pure white. Not even softened. We didn't eat them. The floor was crazy sticky. Everywhere we stepped, our shoes stuck to the floor. The scent in the bathroom is overpowering and gave me a headache. The only upside is that the mack daddy bowl was delicious, which is why it gets 2 stars instead of 1. I don't mind paying these prices for breakfast, but if you're going to charge these prices for breakfast, you have to be EXCELLENT. And it was barely even mid. Sorry but that is the truth. Oh. Edited to add: they never brought us silverware. Had to send a kid to get it for us. They also didn't bring us syrup for our pancakes and French toast. Our food got cold while we waited for it. Also, the syrup is artificial, which I'm...
Read moreFirst time coming to this place after reading good reviews on Eat Hendersonville. The lady who got us our drinks was very nice. She informed our server might be a minute since she just got sat a large party, which we were fine with because my friend and I were catching up. After a few minutes lady approached us with no introduction of any sort and just barked at us " Do you know what you want???". My friend and I said, "No we are sorry, not yet." She scoffed and turned away to do something else. My friend and I looked at each other like what did we do wrong? She never really said anything to us the rest of the time after she got our order, but she did do a good job refilling coffee and such. As former server, I do realize the stress of the job, but alittle hello and alittle less attitude would have been appreciated. Toward the end of our time, the hostess must have let a couple come to the bar with only one chair available, the gentleman basically hovered over me making us feel pretty uncomfortable, like we were being rushed. It was clear this couple were regulars. In my mind I thought, how does anyone become regulars at this joint when being treated like this? Overall the food was good and maybe it was an off day, but my friend and I chose this place based off the reviews and wanted somewhere quaint to catch up. I guess if you like to be treated like an inconvenience, this where...
