My review is strictly based on my experience at the bar. First, Mr. Ricardo himself greeted me at the door, and I told him I was just going to have a couple of beers at the bar. At which point, I sat down at the bar and he proceeded to ignore my presence for the next five minutes. I was just about to get up and walk out when a lady came from the kitchen and asked what I'd like. I said a Modelo, to which the keen eared Mr. Ricardo, suddenly interested, said "We're out of Modelo." "Okay", says I, "I'll have a Dos Equis Amber." They were out of that too, so I ordered a margarita on the rocks.
The margarita was tiny and GREEN. I mean florescent Incredible Hulk green. It also tasted more like sour mix than a margarita. I commented politely about the green color and the lady told me that they put green food coloring in it. Wierd, I thought.
Then I told her I'd just like to tab out and pay for margarita, and she tells me that my tab is only $4.25 and they have a $5 minimum policy for card payment. She suggested I buy some candy, which they have sitting in various containers around the cash register. I'm like, "It's 75 cents under, can't you just tab me out?" She called Mr. Ricardo over and he asked did I have cash, and I told him no. He then obviously begrudgingly agreed to tab me out.
I regularly frequent the Ricardos in Gallatin and love the place. I assumed it was the same owner, but I find it hard to believe that the owner of this one could ever open a location as good as the one in Gallatin. I mean, if they'd had what I wanted, my tab would have been well over $5. Maybe the food is great, I don't know.
This was over all a horrible experience, and I won't be back. The ONLY reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because...
Read moreHave been eating at Ricardo's in Gallatin for many years. Started eating with them when they were first located on South Water. Continue to eat with them on Belvedere Dr. Have recommended them to family and friends numerous amount of times. Today while in Hendersonville, took my family to the location there. A BIG MISTAKE!!!! The big guy there seemed to be mad at the world. He acted like it upset him to wait on tables. Maybe his help didn't show?? Not the attitude or atmosphere my family or I are a custom too. After bringing our fajita platter out, he noted my tea glass was empty. And even said he would bring me some more. After passing our table numerous times, and me even asking for more tea. He continued to ignore my request. Finally my granddaughter ask the other waiter for some tea. Finally got some. Over fifteen minutes without something to drink in a restaurant with only one other table of three. Seems a little ridiculous!! His attitude didn't seem to get better until he was telling us good bye. Also when we emptied our first basket of nachos, he didn't even ask if we wanted more. Just took the basket. Never did get no more either. Not to mention we ordered cheese dip to go with the salsa and chips. I will make sure not to go to this Ricardo's again. If in Hendersonville and hungry, I sure won't be stopping at this restaurant. But I will say the place was clean. This may be why this place doesn't ever seem to be that busy...
Read moreA cozy Mexican restaurant. I went right after lunch the bar is long but was almost completely full. I was able to get a seat next to some Hispanic gentlemen speaking Spanish. I find great comfort when I go to a ethnic restaurant and see people of that ethnicity there eating. I'm weird I guess. Free chips and salsa. Worth it. They give you chips and salsa for togo orders also. With inflation this is pretty legit. Overall, a good experience. I came in looking ragedy as usual and they still gave me respect. My area was cleaned promply after the patrons who left before. My server was attentive but did not make me feel like they were worried I would run away. Gave me a great desert recommendation. Definetly get that Tres Leche cake. I was looking into the kitchen while watching their huge TV (Judge Mathis). The cooks in the back are a little rambunctious but they seem to have a solid leader back there and the food is pretty good. The portions are decent not huge. The prices are pretty fair but as always I find the under $10 meals. I was able to stay under $10 with the dessert. I wouldn't bring a big party...
