So let’s let’s be honest, when I first went to Area 51 I really thought they are going to have some personal flavors, something new and unseen something to match the name. Absolutely not, they have basic flavors in an upscale building. I even tried going during holidays to see if they’d drag out some seasonal flavors, nope same 14 flavors or so. Otherwise it’s spacious and party ready they also have outside seating that’s really enjoyable during warm weather. Oh and the cookies are really good.
2nd take, Area 51 listed some holiday flavor and they missed my point. Your ice cream shop is called Area 51 first thing come to mind are secrets or the actual place called Area 51 y’all have an alien ship painted on your wall lol, & for holiday flavors y’all still listed basic flavors I can find in any ice cream shop. The bar is low here, the expectation is for wild new flavors, (ex. BR offers a wild and wreckless flavor that I can’t find anywhere else.) When I see Area 51 shop as a whole the design the aesthetics I’m looking to find flavors I can’t find anywhere else. With names that’s fun to talk about, “oh I found Alien booger or moon rock at Area 51 and it’s an amazing flavor idk what they put in it but I’ll go...
Read moreThe ice cream here is excellent — they offer a great mix of familiar flavors and creative originals, plus sorbets for those who want something lighter. My wife’s favorite is the watermelon sorbet, and it never disappoints.
The downsides are customer service, consistency, and communication. Some days the staff are friendly and helpful, while other times they seem unhappy to be there. On one visit, a young man was openly commenting to a coworker about what tips customers left, which felt unprofessional. We’ve also had an order of pints to-go come out wrong before, and the amount you get can be inconsistent from one visit to the next.
Another challenge is that they don’t have a website, so the only way to know which flavors are available that day is by checking social media posts. It works, but it’s not always the most convenient for customers.
That said, the ice cream itself is delicious and keeps us coming back. With more consistent service, attention to detail, and a better way to share their flavor list, this could easily be a...
Read moreI have hyped this place up in my mind ever since I heard about it from a friend. I was elated when I finally had the opportunity to go! What a complete disappointment!!!! The place was dirty, music was LOUD and weird, the staff was RUDE, and the ice cream was mediocre at best. Not to mention it is ridiculously priced! The main ingredient was SUGAR, really, that is ALL I could really taste. The cups and portion sizes were scant. The staff acted as if you were an inconvenience, and ignored you. It was as if each one could only do one job and nothing else. Don't even try asking about other flavors than the ones shown, because you will see disgust, judgement, and mockery replace their apathetic countenance. I am NOT sure what they do with the major profit they are making, but it isn't on decor, cleaning crews, or staff training/professionalism. It is NOT worth the drive, the money, or the hype!! TCBY, Freddy's, The DIP and even Baskin Robbins are hands and shoulders...
