Mr Chen's Kitchen — Restaurant in Hernando

Being from Memphis and having worked in Asian restaurants, this one is the best in DeSoto county. The only complaint i have is they have no beansprouts in the fried rice. Alll the food is freshly cooked, nice portions and cooked/seasoned well. Moo shoo pork , egg foo yung, tangy spicy chicken hot and sour soup are real good. Love the wings in yum yum sauce and Singapore rice noodles too. The only place near that can hang w their Chinese is hong Kong restaurant on elvis Presley. HAving just moved to hernando recently its my favorite place to get carry out by far. They have been very kind to my parents over the years and are the same to me. Grand buffet is , to me , the only other Chinese in DeSoto county that is as good but its a drive and more expensive. Mr. Chen’s Chinese food is a local favorite. They always seem to have business. The food is pretty good, portions and quality match the price well. We come here often since it is the closest Asian cuisine and we have not been disappointed! This is definitely more of a take out style place. The indoor dining area isn’t as clean comfortable and inviting as one would expect if they were planning to eat in. I can’t say it is the best Chinese food I’ve ever had because I’ve been to countless Chinese food joints but this still deserves 5 stars. I recommend the General Tsao chicken and some cream...

PuPu platter, General Taus chicken, and pork fried rice. Everything overcooked to the point where I got tired of chewing. Chicken was tiny pieces of meat with lots of breading that was fried so much it tasted like gravel with sauce. Food may have been pre-cooked then refried to wam it up. I gave it the stars I did because it did fill me up and I didn't get sick. The buffet was being served and the dining area was packed so maybe the trick is to eat the buffet.
