Attention all travelers, diners, foodies, and anyone looking for a place for a good meal. Initially was reluctant to try The Parish Oyster Bar & Restaurant mainly because of the name.
The Parish Oyster Bar & Restaurant will surpass your expectations starting with the fresh French bread served in the brown bag with soft butter. Everything I ordered was superb visually and gastronomically delicious.
The fried crab claws and fried catfish was prepared by someone that cares about how the food is served and plated. The breading on both of these dishes were light enough to enhance the golden color of frying with very little seasoning not to overpower the flavor of the freshness of the protein.
The crab stuffed Grouper is probably the best in Northern Mississippi and would be comfortable if compared to the same dish in a coastal state. The Crawfish stuffed French bread is in a league of its own. I was not prepared for this appetizer. The best way I can describe this dish is a mixture of crawfish, cheese, and cream cheese 'I'm guessing" served on top of split French bread loaf and lightly toasted. It's like an open face grill cheese sandwich for grown-ups. (Ok to share with the kids).
Writing reviews requires the same amount of energy good or bad for whatever the reason. I gave The Parish Oyster Restaurant 4/5 stars because, there is always room for improvement. The only complaint I have is, I would prefer to have broccoli with my entree.
The Parish Oyster Bar & Restaurant is located in Nothern Mississippi in the city of Hernando on Commerce Street less than a 1/2 mile off the Highway 55 Commerce Street exit. The value and quality of the food is equally linked, and, in my opinion, I won't say no names there are a few restauranter's in nearby cities that needs to visit The Parish Oyster Bar & Restaurant and get a taste of some real Cajun food. For those with inquiring minds just read some of my other reviews. This is without a doubt the best Cajon/Creole cooking you can get without going to Louisiana or some of the hyped-up Cajun restaurant imposters in Memphis, TN.
I have no complaints about the service. Upon arrival checked-in and was told there would be about a 20-minute wait. I was seated and place my order I forgot about checking to see how long I actually waited. If you are broad in the hips just ask your server for chairs with no arms. My meal was $$$ and you know what? I'm already planning on have lunch there tomorrow on 03/04/2022.
I'll sum up the aforementioned by saying, if you are traveling through Nothern Mississippi on Highway 55 and want to enjoy a good meal don't give it a second thought just put this address in your GPS, 427 E. Commerce St. Hernando, MS 38632 and...

STUDFED FLOUNDER was expertly prepared, pan-seared in butter, and served with green beans. The cooking was precise, resulting in a flavorful dish that was neither overcooked nor undercooked. And the fresh greens beans add yo a great meal!
GUMBO My husband thoroughly enjoyed the gumbo, proclaiming it the best he's ever tasted outside of New Orleans or his mother's kitchen on this side of the Sip. And everywhere we go, if it's on the menu, He tries it so, he would absolutely know! It received an exceptional rating; the okra, shrimp, and sausage were prominent, and it appeared to contain crab as well.
CRAWFISH BREAD was excellent, rich in cheese, and generously filled with crawfish. While it contained an excessive amount of cream cheese, it remained highly palatable. The abundance of cream cheese did not detract from its overall quality.
CRAB CAKE AND GARLIC MASH were both satisfactory. The stuffed crab was also excellent; crab aficionados will be pleased. Furthermore, the portion size was generous. It significantly surpassed Papadueax in quality. The hushpuppies are freshly made, taste excellent, and are not greasy..
COLESLAW COLESLAW COLESLAW COLESLAW: That's all I can say!!! They mastered this ! Oh, and for you ice junkies!!! They have the good ice . 😂

Bread pudding the only thing I can say is DO NOT...
Read moreThe only thing that was bad were the chairs. I wasn’t the only one sitting on the front edge of the slippery metal chair because my rear was too large to fit into the narrow crook where the backrest met the seat. There were no other chair options, no booths that I saw. I let management know and he was nice and I think he said they were aware and might get new chairs. The server was very good and brought me extra napkins without me having to ask for them. Anyway, now about the food. The seafood gumbo was my favorite. The bacon wrapped beef tenderloin was also very good. The crab cakes were just okay. They were moist but the flavor was mediocre and they were kind of fluffy which was strange to me. The crab stuffed flounder was flounder with some crab cake in it so it too was just okay. The roasted lemon that came with the flounder made it better. The green beans were good. The bread was nice and soft inside but flavorless. I couldn’t taste the garlic in the garlic mashed potatoes. For the price, I expected the flavors of everything to be better. If they change the chairs and I return, the gumbo, tenderloin, and green beans are the only things I would get again. There’s definitely room for...
