My boyfriend and I used to be fairly regular patrons here after we moved to Herndon. We’re both from Upstate New York and were excited to find a restaurant that would be a reminder of home, we never saw it as the top, fancy restaurant to go to, but it was a nice after work hang out spot that we could walk to ... until about 6 months later after staffing changes, etc. The restraunt’s slogan is “Where everyone is treated like a regular” - however we were almost never treated this way unless Mitch or Kevin were taking care of us, Jimmy himself was fairly standoffish with us - more concerned that the staff had forgotten to put little green napkins under our glasses than he was in making sure we were able to order food. Unless you’re friendly with most of the staff you’re going to get blown off -this is how we’ve been treated at Jimmy’s the last few times we’ve visited. We’ve given this restaurant repeated second chances and last night decided to check out the new outdoor addition for the first time. We ordered a cheese burger and chicken fingers .... 2 hours later we still had not received our food, yet other patrons who arrived after us had received their food, if we both didn’t have full drinks we would have left after waiting so long for food that shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes to prepare. When I asked the waitress she said the kitchen was overwhelmed ... how overwhelmed could it be that a cheeseburger and chicken fingers aren’t going to arrive until more than 2 hours after ordering??? 20 minutes later we asked again when another waitress came by she gave me the same line to which I responded with “yeah, but we ordered more than 2 hours ago and people who arrived after us have received their food and we have not.” ... she disappeared inside and five minutes later came back with our food. So, not sure if they actually just forgot our food and were just too careless/lazy to check or if the kitchen was actually overwhelmed. I wonder if our food was just sitting out for 2 hours? And to top it off the chicken fingers were stringy and terrible. Neither of us had eaten since 11:30 in the morning, we arrived at Jimmy’s at 7:00pm and were looking forward to a meal and then our dinner didn’t arrive until 9:30 at night, we were STARVING, and this was just a disappointment after looking forward to a meal all day. This visit is probably the last chance we’ll give Jimmy’s, we both really wanted to like this place as it’s in a cool location and nearby to where we live but every time lately we seem to be met with painful disappointment. Will stick with Mediterranean Breeze and Sully’s Pour House when we want something local...
Read moreMade the mistake of coming here on a Sunday... abysmal doesn't even begin to describe it. We should have known better when we saw the throngs of NFL jersey clad beer guzzling morons that packed the place, but thought hey we'd give it a shot given the location in old town Herndon. Got a table in the corner which was fine, but things quickly went downhill. Ordered appetizers and waited... and waited... server came by and took our ordered for entrees... and we waited.. and waited... finally the entrees come out. First off, the guy got my better half's order wrong. There is ZERO excuse for someone not writing down your order and then screwing it up. After taking our first bites and starting to eat, FINALLY our appetizers showed up. The mozzarella sticks are dripping soggy abominations. The entrees weren't any better. The cheese steak was bland and might as well come from a regular middle school cafeteria and the fries looked and tasted like the leftovers from the bottom of a Five Guys bag. My better half's nachos were wrong of course, but even then they were a soggy drippy mess with little redeeming qualities about them. Our waiter checked on us ONCE the entire time and only then when we were nearly finished eating, nevermind we needed refills of soda and he checked on the beer guzzling tables around us numerous times. All this for $46 without alcohol and we left hungry and angry. I highly recommend steering clear of this establishment which won't be hard since there is literally no place to park. The one positive is all the military regalia on the walls, which as a veteran I...
Read moreNever again. For years I've heard this place is good. Nestled in the heart of Herndon, it's a local hotspot for live music and food. Had lunch here one day while feeling adventurous. Nothing on the menu jumped out as being unique or appealing. So I went with the Ruben and a side cup of soup. Sandwich comes with fries. The entire meal and dining experience was a disappointment. For starters, there was no seasoning on the corned beef. I took one bite and notice the lack of salt that typical, even big brand named corned beef, is known for. And supposedly this is a "house made" corned beef. (According to the menu). The bread was something other than rye. The dressing was not Russian. And there was no kraut anywhere to be found. How is this a Ruben? The fries were obviously supermarket bought and slapped on the plate. The soup was okay at best. Aside from that, there was a group of three govt employees sitting together on the other side of the room speaking loudly and crudely about their misadventures and sexual blunders while intoxicated. Apparently one of their birthdays so they kept buying shots of whatever they could get from the waitress. (This was noon on a weekday) I sat quietly eating and not enjoying my lunch, but I never felt more emberassed as a taxpayer to be employeing the three sitting there speaking unfiltered and uncaring. The wait staff didn't seem to mind but it certainly soured my meal experience there. I imagine this is a regular day at Jimmy's though. Catering to the unprofessional "professionals" that work in the area. I won't be returning...
