"The best Dominican food" in Hialeah I have come to this restaurant multiple times (some times multiple days in a week and/or get my food deliver. It's a fantastic little place full of Dominican flavor. From the moment you walk in, you get greeted by whoever notices your entrance. all waitresses (so far) have been great , as in do their jobs properly, are educated and helpful. The menu is very...Dominican and very deliciously varied. We usually order the same thing but don't hesitate to try new things. I have taken almost everyone i know to this place due how good the food is, and after 20+ visits it still hasn't disappoint me or anyone i know. Here are my Pros + and Cons - +Delicious authentic Dominican food +Varied Menu +SUPER CHEAP +A LOT OF FOOD +Mori' Soñando is absolutely amazing +Tostones & Maduros are done the Dominican way (if you're Dominican you know exactly what i mean +Friendly staff at all times -+ Weekdays are a bit more "go and eat" weekends are more like "sit and wait" -+ Jugo de Chinola doesn't taste as authentic (because we obviously know there aren't any chinolas in USA . -+ Dominican Sodas taste different than in DR (not the restaurant's fault so not points taken ) -Nothing negative to share, love this place In short, if you are in Hialeah and want to taste amazing Dominican food and have a great time. you know where to go.

I’m very disappointed about my experience at this place, I really went thinking about having breakfast (their famous Mangu) but since it was after 11:00 am we decided to eat lunch, we ordered Cheese empanadas (they brought us chicken empanadas), order Rabo/oxtail & chicken for my husband, the food was old (probably from the day before, it had a good taste (so it was not rotten) but it was not fresh the oxtail was very expensive for a small plate $20.95 😳 & as people started to arrive I realized that they are not concerned about protecting the clients to be expose to COVID as they put people on a table 2 feet from us, the menu it’s on a sheet that looks like the ones you take home, but they put them back for the next customer without cleaning them, they use reusable plastic cups to serve you your drinks and the owner came to our table to greet us without a mask 😷. I was very disappointed cause I really wanted a nice experience with Dominican food.

By all means it doesnt look high end restaurant but when it comes to authentic Dominican food most of the time the little hole in wall places are 5 stars in my Zagat book. The family owned restaurant really makes you feel like you been transported back to DR. I even think i felt a mosquito bite me in the neck, jk... I had the rabo (oxtail) with habichuelas y arroz blanco ( rice & beans) and my daughter had the Tostones with salami and queso frito.. The rabo was tender it just needed a bit more seasoning but I have been to this place before when visiting Miami and i just think due to the closures due to Covid-19 they didnt let the rabo season enought overnight. But I believe they will be in point once things start moving along... Everthing else from the fritura to the pineapple cake was amazing. My daughter who is the pickiest eater could not get enough of the habichuelas con arroz (rice & beans). This def one of my go to Dominican food spots.

This review is mostly about customer service. BTW, the food is delicious. My experience was amazing until the very end. After I enjoyed the meal and service, I had a very unpleasant experience. I asked for the check and notice a couple unusual things. First one of the dishes I ordered was billed a few bucks higher than how it's priced the menu. Second, there was an unexplained surcharge, and third there's a mandatory "suggested gratuity" for anything over $50. No biggie, right!! I asked the waitress about the aforementioned charges, starting with the one regarding my dish, and she immediately charges at me, telling me that the price is greater because they increased it a couple weeks ago. So, why do you give me an attitude, then? I, as a customer, can only rely on the menu information to know the prices, so if I notice a discrepancy, I will of course, try to find out what the reason of it is! It's the responsibility of the establishment and the staff, to make sure that you make customers aware of any changes not present/updated on the menu, before they proceed buy/pay for your products. Then, I inquired about the surcharge and she states that charge is only there in case "the customer pays with a credit/debit card" if not it will be dropped from the bill. Ok, then! I didn't even bother to ask anything else and go ahead to pay cash. When I got to the counter, I noticed the waitress already gossiping with her co-worker about what I just asked her. And then, when she sees me, she tried to act like everything is cool. I paid the bill and leave to go to my car, but noticed I didn't get my receipt back. So I go in one more time back to ask for the receipt and there she was again, going at it (gossiping) with her co-worker again, this time more freely until she notices I'm right next to the cash register box. This is so unprofessional and petty at the same time. I asked her for the receipt and both of them, (waitress and co-worker) tell me they can't get me a receipt after I paid and asked me to take a picture of the one they took from me before I paid. Poor customer service at it's finest. The waitress was very nice at the beginning of the service and just because I asked something about the check, she switched on me badly. She went from 5 stars to zero in a second. Beware of this type of service folks*. The owner of the place seems to be a very good person, though. He even took time to ask about our meal and experience. But sadly, I won't recommend and/or visit this place...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Mangu Restaurant and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. The owner's warm welcome set the tone for what turned out to be a delightful visit.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with genuine hospitality and attentiveness. The staff members were not only professional but also personable, making me feel right at home.

The owner, in particular, deserves special recognition for his/her exceptional kindness and dedication to ensuring that guests have a memorable time. His/her passion for providing top-notch service truly shines through in every aspect of the establishment.

Moreover, the entire team worked seamlessly together to create an atmosphere that was both inviting and relaxed. From their attention to detail to their prompt and efficient service, it's evident that they take great pride in what they do.

As for the food and drinks, they exceeded my expectations in every way. Each dish was expertly prepared, bursting with flavor and presented with care. Whether it was a signature dish or a specialty cocktail, every item on the menu showcased the culinary expertise of the kitchen staff.
