Ordered a small cheese dip as an appetizer and never received it. Our waiter kept staring over at our table so I assumed he was checking to see if we had gotten our dip yet. By the time our food came, we still never got the cheese dip(which was fine cause we didn’t even want it anymore since the food was here). Later when we asked for desserts, we also asked for boxes. Before we finished putting our leftovers in our boxes to take home, our waiter had already reached over and grabbed my fiancé’s plate. My fiancé had to stop him and told him he wasn’t done yet. When we ordered our dessert, we asked for a order of fried ice cream and a order of the churros, he came back with only the churros and said that was already fried ice cream in the churros. We ordered 2 separate dessert dishes but he brought us one so we just went along with it cause we were ready to just leave already. Then when the check came, we saw that the cheese dip (that we’ve never received) was on the bill. We mentioned that we never received it and for him to take it off. He immediately frowned at us, went to change the bill and came back with the receipt, set it down and put the pen down at my fiancé in a way that the pen made a loud thud when it hit the table. In a quick and monotone voice, he muttered for us to have a good day and immediately walked away without any eye contact. He also kept looking at us as we were finishing our dessert in a way that made my fiancé and I felt rushed. And then when we got up to leave, my fiancé heard the waiter mention “one cheese dip” really loud to his coworkers as they walked by us to clean tables or something, making it feel as if he was talking about us to his coworkers. My fiancé and I had been servers in the past so we were extremely disappointed by the way our waiter made us feel. And this wasn’t the first time we felt as if dos amigos servers had attitudes, the first time we came to grab dinner a few weeks ago, we observed 2 waitresses in a conversation when one of them huffed and puffed and threw a plate into the dirty food cart very loudly. We understand how stressful it can become when it comes to serving but Dos Amigos need to train their servers better when handling attitudes in front of their customers and towards...
Read moreI know the bar is never too high for anything other than a grilled cheese here in my hometown of Hickory, NC... but service is another story. I have passed Dos Amigos multiple times since returning to the area and though it was a slow area they are located in, but maybe the food would be great.
Today, I finally stopped and ordered chicken fijitas. While I waited, took 10 minutes after I finished my drink to get another diet coke. Then when the food was ready, the dropped the skillet off with the chicken and veggies (cold) and didn’t even make eye contact or say anything. Five minutes later after I was unable to see any staff, the tortillas arrived and again they did not make eye contact and were fast. Another five minutes passed and a plate of lettuce, tomatoes, beans and sour cream was dropped. I managed to stop him by saying wait... I then asked for guac. He said that is extra. I said that is on the menu with the item I ordered. No words in response, just walked away and returned with gauc. Never checked on me again, never filled my drink, never asked how the food was.
I will never return to this place and I’m sure it will be gone before long! Hickory has a problem with good service and quality I have noticed! I wish I could open my own restaurant...
Read moreDos Amigos had mediocre food and uneven service the afternoon we stopped in for lunch. They don't have as an excuse that they were slammed - it was well after any lunch rush, about 2pm. The help was quick to seat us, got the drink order wrong, then returned way too quickly for the food order. We asked for more a bit time and she disappeared for 10-15 minutes. The "salsa" served with the chips was awful, seemed like little more that canned tomato sauce. I've had better out of a jar from the grocery. My Camarones Tequila was pretty awful. The menu claims the shrimp are marinated in tequila. The tasted like they had been marinated in nothing but boiling water. They had no seasoning at all and I detected zero salt, pepper, spice, and no tequila. No seasoning for the veggies either. My Mom's dish was a little better- they had managed to get some garlic butter on her garlic-fried shrimp. The waitress did come by one time to refill drinks but then disappeared. She never did bring the check. When I gave up and went to the register I found her sitting and one her smartphone. They may have better offerings. The guy in the next booth was served sizzling fajitas that smelled great. But I won't...
