I was excited to hear that a new bagel place was opening in the Hickory area. Although they have been selling their products at the farmers market prior to opening this Brick and Mortar location, I was not aware of their products and had not had them previously. I love good, fresh made bagels and there are very few options in this area. My typical go to are My Brothers Bagel in Denver, North Carolina and Boone Bagelry in Boone, North Carolina.
As with most bagel shops, the space is small and there is not really a good dine in option available. The menu is fairly basic with just bagels and a few schmears as well as a couple vegan options. I ordered a toasted salt bagel with a lox schmear. I was informed that they did not have any lox so I opted for a scallion schmear instead. My total before tax and tip was $5.00. The staff was pleasant, and my order was ready quickly. I was disappointed to find my bagel had not been toasted as I had requested.
Overall my experience was just ok. They seemed to be out of a few items and that may be due to the learning curve of just opening. Not toasting my bagel was definitely a miss on their part. The bagel itself was fresh and had a good chew to it, but the biggest negative was the pricing. A plain bagel here is $3.50, a dozen is $30, and an 8oz container of flavored cream cheese is $9. At my regular bagel shops a plain bagel is $1.55, a dozen is $18.60 and an 8oz flavored cream cheese is $5.66 - $7. I wish them luck, but that is a big enough difference to keep me...
Read moreEnsure employees change gloves after wiping sweat from their forehead before touching customers bagels We visited on a Sunday and they were pretty busy, understandable since they had only opened 2 weeks prior. The woman who was on the register was so friendly and welcoming! The food runner was not. They were out of everything bagels so my fiancĂ© got the season with garden veggie spread and added the smoked lox and I got the onion bagel with veggie spread. They werenât toasted which we should have asked for. While waiting for our order we witnessed the food runner with gloves on lift her hat and wipe her forehead sweat then proceeded to grab another customers bagels with the same gloves. We thought that was very gross and were thankful those werenât our bagels. Probably would wait a few more weeks to visit again and ask for the food runner to change gloves before handling our bagels.
The bagels were good and the veggie spread was delicious! We will have them toasted next time, And glad to have a bagel shop close to us. Just really turned off knowing there could potentially be sweat on our bagels for...
Read moreFirst let me say how excited my family and I were to hear of a bagel place opening near us. That faded quickly. First how do you charge $3.50 for a bagel? No egg, no cream cheese just a bagel. đ€ŠđœââïžI checked a number of places here and in NY and the most any one of those places charges is $1.60 per bagel. Second the taste, absolutely not like a bagel. Too dense, too crusty. Yes bagels are supposed to be crusty but doughy inside but I shouldnât risk breaking a tooth. Being a native NYer I have been eating bagels since 1968 and Iâm sorry to say yours donât cut it. You need to make some changes. Especially that price. We visited Wilmington and went to #bagelsonpoint and those were more like NY bagels and i only paid $1.60 per bagel. Anyway Iâm not trying to be mean but I am super disappointed. I hope this review gets you to look at what youâre doing and you make...
