I had no idea that nachos could be so flavorless. First of all...I don't believe cheese sauce should be so thin that it seeps completely through the nachos and puddles up under everything so as to make all the chips soggy. Secondly, there are Mexican seasonings out there, that you can use to season your chicken. Try buying some. The chicken tastes like it was thrown into a pot, covered with onions, jalapeños, and water, then stewed for days. I have never tasted meat, onions, and jalapeños that had absolutely no flavor. The chicken was so dry, I had trouble swallowing it. (Actually...this was the first time I even had large strips of overcooked, soggy onions, on any nachos I ever ate). Finally...looking around at all the people that were sitting there with full plates of food, and not touching it...should be an indication to management that your food needs some attention. Must be under new management, because our experience here last year was nothing like it. There's a Taco Bell in front of this restaurant...you'd be better off there. (You might end up in the bathroom all night, but I believe I'm going...
Read moreLooking for good quality mexican after my kids school event on a Friday night. They were open till 11pm and I noticed they had Birria Tacos. I'd only seen those on food videos from CA and other places so I was excited to try it. Wasnt too busy, the atmosphere was calm, asthetically pleasing, and the booths were intimate. Service was friendly and fast. The food was out of this world good. It was all fresh, right down to the thick, homemade, corn tortillas chips that came out hot. The tacos were the star. If you've never had Barria tacos, it's basically chuck roast cooked in chilles and other central american spices in a hearty beef broth. They dip the shells in the broth and grill it on a flattop with the tender beef roast and cheese. It's topped with onion, cillantro, and served with a lime, homemade cillantro rice, and a bowl of the remaining beef broth for dipping. It tastes like Sunday Dinner, with better more flavorful ingredients, all wrapped up in the best taco in the county. I'll be returning several...
Read moreVery good Mexican restaurant in Hickory. The interior includes brick arches and carved wood benches for the booths. I was seated promptly and received good service. The chips and salsa came out very quickly. They have a fresh salsa bar with many choices to augment the salsa they bring to your table. I ordered the POLLO RELLENO (#33) on the recommendation of my waiter and it was outstanding! I ordered a couple of margaritas too. The “skinny margarita” was very tasty as they use fresh juices and a top shelf tequila to make it. I also ordered a House Margarita (which are pre-made) and it was NOT good at all for my tastes. The margarita mix they use is way too sweet and I really couldn’t taste the tequila at all. I asked for some limes (twice as I needed more) so that I could doctor it up instead of sending it back. When I I got my bill I was charged $1.25 for the limes. I’ve never been charged for limes but I guess it’s their policy and I didn’t say anything about it. All in all, a very good Mexican with a nice...
