We noticed this new eatery and gave it a try. The person handling our food was sweeping and waiting tables. I didnāt feel this was sanitary but let that pass. We could smell dust while trying to eat.
Next, in place of tortilla chips, pork rinds were served (no traditional chips and dips). No salsa, no cheese or quesa sauce and he didnāt understand when we said ācheese sauceā.
I asked if chicken was from a can or fresh and he said āfreshā. However my chicken clearly came from a can.
I ordered fried peppers and raw peppers came on a side plate with a single brown stripe on one side as if left in a grill for a few seconds (most raw I have ever been served).
The waiter struggled with English and didnāt understand items we tried to order on their specials advertisement at the door.
I asked for a ticket and was told to pick it up at the register. I guess he was too busy sweeping. The only other guest there was fussing about the wait for food. They were very considering only two tables had guests (11:45 AM).

Ā Ā Ā Read moreOur introduction to El Gallito Mexican Restaurant in High Point, NC came through a friendās recommendation. The service was commendable, marked by cordiality and attentiveness. However, the culinary experience left room for improvement.

Most of the meat dishes suffered from overcooking, resulting in an undesirable chewiness. Additionally, the seasoning was heavy-handed, rendering the entire meal overly salty.
On a positive note, the restaurant boasts a decent and clean ambiance. Ample parking spaces are available out front. Despite these merits, the lackluster flavor profile of the food leaves me hesitant to return.
In summary, while El Gallito excels in service and atmosphere, the taste of the dishes fell short...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had read some positive press about this place so I popped in to take the quesobirria for a test drive for a late lunch. When my server showed me a picture it just looked like too much food so after perusing and agonizing I went with three street tacos: Barbacoa, Pastor and Lengua (tongue). These were absolutely the best street tacos I have had. The order took a while to arrive to the table and I realized they prepared everything fresh. They come with a grilled jalapeno pepper and some pickled onions. They did not serve chips with order but did serve chicharrones de harina. I had seen them at other places. I'd prefer fresh tortilla chips but these were fine. They serve Mexican Coke in the glass bottles and have Jarritos. I can't wait to come back and try the quesobirria! This is real deal...
