My experience here today was very disappointing, and I left feeling dismissed and unappreciated. I won't be back here after this experience, but I hope that this will spare someone else a similar experience.
I was having a very bad day, and I decided that a cupcake or a cookie might make my bad day better. I wasn't deliberately seeking drama or attention, but I had been sobbing, and I was visibly fighting back tears, and it was obvious I was upset. I was barely greeted when I came in, and I just got handed my change and food without even a simple thank you. No one asked me if I was okay, and there was no kindness shown. I left with the impression that they didn't care.
I'm not going into detail, because it's really no one's business, but I have a chronic health condition, and the concomitant pain I experience is severe, and the medicine I take for it causes me extreme exhaustion. Not a day goes by that I don't cry because of how much pain I'm in. I'm also going through a life situation that no woman my age should be going through. Again, that's my business, but anyone could be fighting a battle you know nothing about. I wasn't mean or rude, I just walked out without a word. Unbelievable!
Now, my attempt to better my day has backfired in my face, and I'm in a very bad mood right now.
I hope that people realize that it's important to be kind, because you never know who has a story that would break your heart. I know I sure do, and I've decided to spend my money where people...
Read moreMy mom went to by me 3 rose cupcakes and 3 rainbow swirl cupcakes. When she brought them to me, I opened the box and one of the rainbow swirl cupcakes had a gnat on it. I let my mom know that I was going to take them back because one of them had a gnat on it. My mom told me that she informed one of the worker's there was a gnat on the case. The worker did not seem to care. I drove across town to the bakery to inform them of the disgusting insect on my Pastry. When I told the worker, she did not seemed concerned. Her response was that the gnats are always there and it is not anything they can do about them. She said they(gnats) like sweets. She further said they are only "this big" using her index and thumb to suggest they are very small in size. I am appalled. Listeria is microscopic, but it can be deadly if ingested!!! She asked what did my mom want to do. I asked if they had some more in the cooler. She said yes, & brought back 9 cupcakes. When she came back, she went on to explain all the tactics they have tried and she said that nothing worked. She referred to a tactic that Starbucks uses, a vacuum. It seems to work for them because I have never seen any gnats in there on any of my food or beverages. I am taken back by her response and lack of sincerity. I guess it is an everyday thing for her, but I choose not to ingest gnats or any bugs. Therefore, I will not return to Sweet Shoppe Bakery!!! I hope the owners find some ways to illuminate their insect problem!!! A disgusted, upset...
Read moreThis bakery has been around for as long as I can remember. Years ago you could go and get quality baked goods for a fair price. The cakes and cookies were always good. On my last two visits it has been a big disappointment. Limited options. Cookies that were so dry they broke while the employee was placing them in the box. She gave us a few extra to make up for breaking them. But extra bits of bad cookies don't make them taste good. We purchased a cake as well on both of these visits. In both cases there were extremely limited options available. The cake was rather pricey and lacked any kind of wow factor to account for the price. You could buy a boxed cake mix and prepare it badly and it would still rival if not exceed the cake from sweet shop. It is sad to see how things have gone. I can't even blame pandemic staffing because the same people are there who worked...
