China Wok — Restaurant in High Ridge Township

If you are a take-out customer, please don't walk out of this place without first checking your order. I ordered the large Egg Drop Soup. My husband orders a Combination Plate. I am not crazy about Chinese food to begin with, so the soup was my entire meal.

When my husband returned home, he took the soup out and noticed how dark it was. It was NOT my Egg Drop, but another variety that I first tasted and found it disgusting.

So I called the restaurant, and they told me to come back and they would exchange for the correct soup. I explained how far away I live. I can't just hop on the highway and I'm there. So I asked them, since it was their mistake and my inconvenience and gas to refund me the price of the soup.

The lady I talked to was adamant that she would only exchange, period. There was no leeway and no negotiating with this...

Against better judgement, we tried China Wok because Fu Yu was closed. We ordered 4 items. The pot stickers were overcooked, almost burnt. The lo mein and spicy chicken were so dry it was almost impossible to swallow either. The only thing that wasn't completely dried out was the egg drop soup, and it was fairly bland and tasteless. We'll never make the mistake of ordering China Wok food again. Unfortunately our first choice, Fu Yu, is family owned and has arbitrary unpublished hours. We LOVE China Wok. A friend told me about them back in 2005 and this is our go to place. They used to deliver, but not any more. That's ok! Just stay open!! My favorite is the sesame chicken and the chicken lo mein noodles. My husband loves the fried rice with everything in, is that the happy family? Maybe. Prices are right.
