City Barbeque — Restaurant in Highland Heights

Would give negative stars if I could. $70 for 2 people to eat and it was the worst BBQ we have ever had, and we have had ALOT as it's our favorite thing to eat. This was our first and last time trying this place. We ordered 1lb of brisket and the entire container was nothing but rock solid bark, and it actually cut my gums and made me bleed. The few pieces of meat we did get was so dry that you couldn't even bite it and pull it apart, was worst than dehydrated jerky and the worst brisket ive ever put in my mouth.. -100/10 Corn pudding 0/10 was awful, cold and old. Tasted like a bunch of dry crumbled cornbread with some dry corn kernels added. Mac and cheese 0/10 was very dry, cold, and mushy. Baked beans were 5/10, they were okay but cold. Banana pudding 0/10 was so watery and was full of cinnamon which I'm highly allergic to and no where does the ingredients say it has cinnamon. Bananas were soggy and brown. Surprisingly my wife liked the potato salad she said 7/10. The original bbq sauce was about the only thing good with the whole meal. I give it a 9/10. Employees acted like customers were a burden, told then my name for the pickup and they said "it's over there" and pointed at a counter full of brown bags so I had to search to find mine because they walked away. We are in town for an anniversary vacation staying at a local hotel and I'm so angry that I found this place and spent so much money for it all to go to the trash. I ordered online for catering our staff Holiday Party. I ordered for delivery, called and confirmed my delivery order on Saturday for Tuesday. I let them know that because my order was a certain $$ amount, they would have to run my card two times because it has a purchasing limit on it. No worries, just call on Tuesday and they can take care of that. Fast forward to Tuesday - they couldn't run two transactions on the same order until you were at the store in person. I had to find a driver, so I found someone to go pick it up - called back, and they said it'd be ready in 30 minutes. About 10 minutes later I called back with a different purchasing card that didn't have a spending limit. They then told me they couldn't run the card through, and possibly have the order delivered in time because the sides take over an hour to cook. Even though it would have been ready in 30 minutes with a pick up?? Even the corporate representative agreed that it sounded like they didn't want to deliver to us... I asked for a corporate number or email - and the woman I was speaking to said she was with corporate, and would let her manager know to be expecting my email. I emailed on Tuesday haven't heard anything yet. The order was over $300, but didn't seem like a priority to anyone. Not a good experience for...

This is my first experience with City BBQ.I had The brisket sandwich with a side of collard greens and mac and cheese. I enjoyed everything ,but the mac and cheese.Allow me to explain ,but first (In defense of the mac and cheese it was Saturday night last hour before closing). So maybe I got a subpar by accident.It tasted like macaroni noodles with no hint of cheese.(reason for not getting 5 stars)The collards greens were on point! Cooked perfect , good bite to them,taste flavorful, with a hint of heat,lip smacking ,hush puppies another person ordered had a nice crunch on outside, soft good chew on inside.The star of my order the brisket sandwich, it did not leave me wanting. Big hefty cuts, smoke was there but not much,but it was like I said close to closing so I might got what was left after long day.nice pull ,good bite.The meat didnt need sauce but asked for the original sauce to try , not bad at all.Sandwich was piled generously. I thoroughly enjoyed it. 4.5 out of 5 I looked up this place on a recommendation from a family member who recently moved here.
