Peppers Mexican Grill Cold Spring — Restaurant in Cold Spring

I had a tough experience here. The initial issue with our service was a language barrier with our server.

I attempted to order wings as an appetizer but she did not understand what I was ordering. When I pointed to the item on the menu, I still received the incorrect item. I had told her I wanted to order food after the appetizer, but she took my menu away and did not offer to take my order.

At the close of our meal, I attempted to order fried ice cream. There were cards all over the restaurant saying that if you left a review you would get it for free. When I asked about this, the server said that's no longer valid. However, she did not remove any of the promotion material, and when someone else asked for the free ice cream, she gave it to them.

The server also did not keep up with our beverages, but it was fairly busy so this wouldn't have been so much of an issue if not for the other problems.

When I went to pay for the check, the server took more than 15 minutes to collect it. The food (though incorrect) was not so bad, but this experience leaves me not...

The waiter was friendly, but within four minutes of sitting down we were asked twice if we were ready to order. I had never been there before and wanted to look over the menu, but I felt rushed. Once we ordered, I didn’t see the waiter again until it was time for the bill. That meant no chance for napkins or drink refills unless I tracked someone down.

There’s a low wall separating the booths. On the other side, staff were folding silverware and talking so loudly that I couldn’t hear the person across from me. It was distracting, especially with one person leaning over the wall and hovering like the sun at 2 p.m. It just felt odd.

The 17-year-old who brought us our food was very friendly and honestly the only redeeming part of the experience. The food was typical, meaning not bad, just not special. The atmosphere could be better if the staff was aware of the experience they are creating for others when they rush them or encroach on their space. The place is clean. The food...

We have only had the pleasure of eating peppers as take out. Our drive may be 10 to 15 minutes tops traffic pending. Our food has never been cold sometimes still almost too hot to bite right into. But they have yet to disappoint! I think my son eats from there three to four times a week if he can and he is the one who turned us on to it. Mike cannot get enough of it. I believe he would eat it everyday. Looking forward to being able to dine in. Have heard nothing but good things about the staff, the cleanliness, and the surroundings. But until that time comes, we will continue to order from there. I believe that this is the BEST Mexican restaurant in this area.
