I visited the Starbucks drive-through this past Friday (7/18/25) around 11:30am and had a very upsetting experience. The woman working the drive through - an elderly white woman was extremely rude to me after I mispronounced a couple of words while ordering. Instead of responding with patience or professionalism, she repeated the words back to me in a loud, mocking, and condescending tone. It was shocking and frankly humiliating.
I’ve always appreciated Starbucks for its generally welcoming customer service, which makes this experience even more disappointing. I never expected to encounter that kind of behavior, let alone what felt like racially charged condescension from someone representing the company. I've ordered the same thing for a few weeks in a row and they've never gotten it right. Lucky for them I'm in the drive thru so I don't usually bother to have the drink remade. But today, I asked them to remake it, and still theytdidn't get it right. First, I asked for an iced green tea latte with LIGHT ICE, and the drink was packed full of ice, even though the order was labeled correctly. Read moreI just went there. I did a drive through and told the lady I wanted two gift cards for $50 each and she told me to drive to the window. I did and to my surprise they were three people there and they were all just looking at me, after 5 minutes a guy ask the lady standing next to him what I was waiting for instead of asking me. His name is Erick and now he decided to ask me if I needed anything? I told him that was what they should have asked me first. Apparently I'm a black woman and since I didn't put an order in I guess I was been judged as I wanted a free drink and yet I spent a $100.
