Steep Ravine Brewing Company — Restaurant in Highland Park

Catastrophically slow service. Like, unbelievably slow. Hard to tell if the place was simply short staffed. There was almost seemingly no activity coming out of the kitchen for maybe 30 minutes. Out of nowhere, our server showed up with some dipping sauces for an appetizer ordered 30 minutes prior. No appetizer mind you. Just the sauces and an apology for how long things were taking. But even during that time, I don't think our server came by the table once. Thank goodness there was outdoor beer truck nearby to get a drink.

Then came a flurry of activity as food started coming out to all the tables. It's almost as if the entire kitchen simply shut down, or went on break for some reason. It was simply strange with no explanation. And either the menu is really limited, or they were working off a limited menu. Either way, the food selection was so narrow it simply shouldn't have taken so long to get that stuff out.

The food was average, with higher than average prices for the quality. Reviews here are largely positive, so maybe this was just a really off night for the place. But it was so off, and there are so many other options, that I can't say...

This place along with bwb that I previously reviewed is a joint owned restaurant that's serving up some of the most delicious food in the area ! The garlic parm wings were to die for some of the best I've had! The in house made guacamole and Pico! Wow 👌 we wanted to take some home with us! The chips that came with it fresh and crispy..my granddaughter had the smash burger and she was in sheer heaven as she took a bite of that juicy delectable burger with sautéed onions cheese pickles and ketchup on a so brioche bun that was so shiny it was almost to pretty to eat lol..I have the Carne asada burrito with the refried beans on the side omg! It was bite for bite the bomb I gave my compliments to the chef 👨‍🍳 he truly deserved it! My grand daughter also had a root beer shake not a float but shake! It was soooo good ..I know because I sampled some lol these restaurants will definitely be visited again even with me living an hour away it's worth drive! And for all the food we ordered the price point was...

I stopped by here last night with a couple of friends. There were three seats available at the bar, which was perfect. However two people pushed ahead of us to take the seats as we were heading towards them. It was pretty clear we were going to sit there, and even the staff saw that.

One of the staff members told us that they were cleaning a table off for us, which would have been fine - except right after they told us this, a family came into the establishment who they then gave the table to instead. We had obviously been waiting for the table, and were told that we would be able to sit there, but instead we were left to stand and ignored from then on out.

Between this incident and how the quality of their food has gone down over the years, it makes me sad to say that I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are far better breweries and restaurants in the area where the staff will treat you well and you'll get a...
