Sunday visit 1:45 arrival. Asked for a table to be cleared so we could sit & eat. (4.5mins) Waited another 10mins to be given menus. Orders taken, food arrived 38mins after order taken. (Only 2 tables (4 ppl) were waiting on orders). Prices correct on bill, paid with a credit card and the price was .74 cents higher than the amount charged for our 2 meals. I asked the server why the charge was higher than our receipt & she said bcuz we used a credit card. I asked her where it was posted or disclosed that there was a charge for using a credit card? She said she didn't know if it's posted anywhere it's just what the manager put in place when a credit card is used! I let another table (of friends we knew) know about the extra charge since they were also paying by a credit card & they didn't know about it either! We used to go to Huddle House (when it was HH) about once a week. Now that it's Eddie's & there are secret charges no one knows about unless they happen to notice it on their receipt (like we did), we won't be dining there. The renovation took out 10 table seatings to put in a cart for dirty dishes (which the server didn't wash her hands after returning the dirty cart to it's dirty cart area by the restrooms). And the other 3 small tables they took out where the register was will be gaming machines that will be put in their place of 6 table seatings. Inside looks smaller & more cramped. Food was good, warm & the right amount per serving. Was a little disappointed in the chopped steak, when cutting it into bite size pcs it came apart as if it was hamburger pieced together from different pieces of meat thrown together, not like a normal hamburger patty is made...
Read moreReduced standards since they opened. Prices are up. Food quality sourced is lower quality than it used to be and is smaller in size than before. More reliance on prepackaged condiments (i.e. a tiny peel-top cold container of marinara from the refrigerator for cheese sticks as opposed to a plastic cup filled with warm and flavorful marinara; peel-top margarine instead of a cup of whipped butter; etc.)
Cleanliness standards have reduced over time. Tables are often sticky and lacking supplies like napkins. Silverware is sometimes dirty. Servers are friendly but also make fewer visits to the table to refill or check on things than they used to. What used to be a lively and chatty dining room is now void of server presence, except for when they're busy and only one server is managing the whole dining room.
I've gotten a few "oops" meals, which I'm sure is more of a training thing, or lack of familiarity with the menu. For instance, a Caesar Salad Wrap on a Warm Tortilla does not imply that the lettuce and Caesar dressing will also go onto the grill. Just the chicken and the tortilla! Fried lettuce is GROSS. And on a couple occasions I ordered the daily special but was charged the full menu price and didn't get the ice cream cone. Not a deal breaker, but all the little things add up after a while.
Overall, across the board, Eddie's is a shadow of what it used to be. Standards are slipping. I get it, the restaurant needs to post a profit. But reducing the customer experience isn't the way to do it.
This was my go-to for a long time, but it's not the place that I used to enjoy anymore. I have no plans of going back...
Read moreI've been sleeping on this place far too long thinking it was mostly a breakfast place. I heard a radio add for the burger and was in the mood for a burger that night. I was not really hungry but was thinking this would be some whimpy little BK, McD's, Har. Burger so I decided to get the triple cheeseburger 🍔 my wife got the single. I'm a big guy and when the server was walking across the floor with the food it got attention of everyone in there it looked like a eating challenge this thing had to be 4"tall I had to eat from the middle to the top than the middle to bottom and the burger is delicious!! If you're in Highland and want a burger this in now 100% my go to for a great burger and cost less than all the other big name chains. Pictures from later date where I went back to get a double cheeseburger. The fries I also really like the service is good and fast I highly...
