JJ's Sports Cafe — Restaurant in Highland

Bartender, possibly the main owner or manager, was very rude. Tall man with huge upper body and tiny legs that wears glasses. Ordered an old fashioned and watched him make it. He put a lot of soda water in it to fill the glass and poured cherry juice in it and turned it red and overly sweet... and in a plastic rocks glass to boot! I was with friends so I tried not to complain and took a sip. It was horrible. I took it up to the bar and kindly asked for just whiskey on the rocks. He got verbally aggressive and visibility upset in defense of his drink making skills. He said it was a very expensive drink ($10) and proceeded to imply I should keep it and drink it. I said I just want my whisky rocks please. He raised his voice and firmly tossed items at the bar and continued with its plea for me to take the drink back and said I'm going to have to charge you for it if you want another drink. I said, "Do whatever the "bleep" you want," and he was so angry he almost threw me out. Someone at my table ordered the same drink, and he brought the one I took a sip out of and gave it to my friend. My friend was sweet and didn't care about how it was made and drank it. The cost of the drink showed up on my bill. I'm an ex Bartender, and I would never behave that way... also, I love whiskey and know how a good old fashioned is supposed to be made. Needless to say, I'll never go back to that establishment. I would give negative stars if I could.

The old fashioned is a cocktail made by muddling sugar with bitters and water, adding whiskey (typically rye or bourbon), and garnishing with an orange slice or zest and a cocktail cherry. It is traditionally served with ice in an old fashioned glass (also known as a rocks glass). FYI MR....

It's going downhill fast. The crowd that is going has began pushing away the locals. People are having the checks padded one of my friends bills had extra food and beer on it and when she complained she was told there was nothing they could do and that she must've ordered it otherwise it wouldn't be on the bill. For the price you may as well go to BJ's, chili's or Red Robin at least there you'll get good service and delicious food.

Some of the staff ignores you for their preferred customers and the security here is a joke they're quick to search you or check for minors even before the restaurant closes but when it comes to actual safety and security they lack the skill as I'm sure none of them are actually trained security. I was going over on Sat night to grab a drink and as I pulled up there was a big fight outside. One of the staff was outside on top of a guy hitting him. This is unacceptable and needs to be cleaned up. As soon as I saw this I left as a beer isn't worth dying over. I used to love going when the old security was there because when I was there and there were tensions they would always try to deescalate it not instigate it more. This place is getting a bad reputation and me and my friends won't be returning until they get their stuff under control. If you value your safety don't go here. 2 stars but really 1.5 and mostly because they weren’t rude. If your thinking about coming to check it out; it wasn’t worth it. We came in with high expectations, thought after bar rescue came through it would be great. The service was far below expectations. They didn’t great anyone who walks in, not even looks up or acknowledges them. So we sat ourself, took them 10-15 mins to bring us a menu; took them 15 more minutes to come back to take our drink order and we were ready to order at that point; didn’t even write it down turned to leave and turned back around and was like wait so you wanted this and what did you want again? After OVER an hour of just waiting we were ready to leave, finished our drinks, and the one guy actually working was like they food will be right out, finally got our food which wasn’t bad and that’s when they finally were like sorry we have a new system we’re trying to learn it we just remodel like sorry for all of this but at that point it was too late and it took us having to say something first; they weren’t rude here and the prices weren’t bad just extremely inattentive just not good service Just won’t be back here and won’t recommend this...
