Sam's Pizza & Pub Inc. — Restaurant in Highland

I have tried this Pizza place a handful of times since moving to this area over 20 years ago. My kids have even had school events here. We have gotten pizzas, cheese sticks and other things. The service was great. The reason for the 1 Star is because of the food. I just can’t stomach it. My kids will even eat little Caesar’s before Sam’s. None of my family likes this pizza. The crust reminds me of a Tombstone pizza. Their crust is not thin, though they claim it is. The toppings are good though. My daughter got mozzarella sticks and ended up throwing them away because she said they were horrible and she didn’t like the dipping sauce because it was too chunky and had a funny taste. We have given this place many chances, but it’s always the same. We just don’t like it at all.

*UPDATE: My family was hoping that after Sam’s reopened in Highland again, the food would taste better. However, it seems the same (or similar) recipes and ingredients are still used after all this time. We have tried it on and off few times over the past 20+ years, wanting to like it. I'm new to this area of the country having started a job 3 weeks ago in a neighboring town and decided to try one of the local establishments. Sam's has a friendly storefront and it caught my eye. Inside was clean with a nostalgic decor. I sat at the bar with a couple of patrons and ordered a chicken parmesan sandwich, fries and a drink. The sandwich and fries were tasty and the bartender was very entertaining as was the patrons. They made me feel welcome to join in the conversation. As first impressions go, this was about as good as it gets. While I didn't have time to try their pizza, one of the other patrons was eating a thin crust pizza and it looked REALLY GOOD!!! Sam's Pizza & Pub earned 2 thumbs up from me and I will be back to try some of that pizza! If you find yourself in Highland IL and have a hankering for some pizza goodness, give this place a try. I cant imagine anyone not enjoying this...

Nice place always enjoyed their pizza. Garlic bread my son loved Both my kids enjoyed the chicken bacon ranch family size original crust pizza. I enjoyed my house salad with extra French salad dressing and family size Bbq jalapeno original crust pizza. While we were waiting for the food to come I enjoyed a nice beer from there multiple selection of on draft beer. While my children enjoyed their selection of games and claw machines. Always a hit with the kids. Actually 1st time playing for me the VMT machines but I did put 20 in and took out a voucher for 58.55. Lol wow. The lady who set down after me also was on a roll on that machine. I wanted pizza not a gambling rush.

Meanwhile our hostess was on top of things. While I believe her husband runs the kitchen. Great people. Nice place. Would definitely...
