I rarely give 5 star reviews. When I do a review it includes service and food. I love Mediterranean food and I'm always on the look out to try new ones. I'm happy to say this place does live up to the star rating on Google Reviews.
I got the kefta plate and falafel and my friend got the sambousa. All were so good! Eating kefta fresh off the skewer is just the best. The plate came with 2 long skewers of kefta on a huge plate of rice with grilled tomato and onion. The salad and hummus came in a separate box and wow that hummus is delicious! (I came back here yesterday [09.18] to pick up dinner before work and gave some to my coworker and she loved the food, especially the kefta and hummus.) The falafel is one of the best I've had, full of flavor and not overcooked. I tried a piece of the sambousa and it was yummy. It reminds me of the Indian samosa. That's a good thing. When I was here last night I did try their chicken kebab and it was good. I like the kefta better but that's because I'm on a kefta kick at the moment. I like the baklava too, it's not overly sweet like most. I also decided to try their tzatziki and it was good. My only gripe is that they only sell it in a huge container and it's $7.99. I didn't need a huge container, I wish they offered it in 2 or 4 oz cups.
We came here in the late afternoon on a Saturday. The place is nice and clean. You can see them pack up your food. They don't have regular un-sweet tea (bummer), but they do have a Pepsi fountain machine and a small fridge with other bottled drinks. Water is free. They do get a lot of to-go orders, so if you pull up and don't see anyone there just know they get a lot of to-go orders.
This place is also great if you're lazy to meal prep and/or looking for a high protein eatery. With the way groceries are getting the family meal here ($125 for 10 falafels, 10 skewers: 5 kefta, 3 chicken, 2 steak), hummus, rice, tabouli) is not a bad deal esp. if you can break it up into meals between 2 people (or just for yourself) and are lazy like me. hahaha. One thing they got going is price. This is well within budget for the quality and amount of food you receive.
The other reason they get full stars is because the service is excellent. The owners are...
Read moreFresh and flavorful Mediterranean food in a clean, welcoming atmosphere. After months of wanting to eat here, we finally were able to stop in and try this place out. It has been one of the highest rated restaurants in Highland for some time, and I had to see what the hype was about. We walked in on a Friday evening to a completely empty restaurant. Strange. The place was easily the cleanest and brightest restaurant I had experienced in a while. The lady behind the counter was so nice and explained everything to us and gave us recommendations. We are TOTALLLY new to Mediterranean food and she helped us get an idea of what to try. Everything was prepared fresh, by hand and you can TASTE it. The food is well seasoned and was interesting to try so many new flavors for the first time. I can't remember all the names exactly, but the ground beef kebab was probably my favorite. Unique spices and flavor from the grill gives the food a fresh and flavorful kick. Everything we had was so tasty and the white garlic sauce; WOW. I had tried toum previously, but her homemade one was killer! The hummus, fresh pickles and salad served with the meals are so fresh and delicious. I tried the dessert and it was so sweet and crunchy and filled with pecans. So good. The food is really unique if you've never tried it and seems light and healthy. I was really impressed with all the flavors and the hospitality and confused why this place wasn't packed. Maybe I just caught it at a bad time, but there is NO reason this restaurant should be empty at any time. Check this place out, it's definitely a top-tier...
Read moreI have a particular fondness for Mediterranean food and especially when it we’re talking about Kebab shops. No lie I have gone to Kebab shops in upwards of about 20 countries around the world consistently over about a 15 year period where I was traveling non-stop with an insane budget to do so. This spot is hands down the best Kebab spot I have ever been to. The food was nothing short of incredible. I only had the beef and the shish tawouk and they were marinated to literal perfection. So so so juicy and delicious while being so perfectly cooked. There is no doubt that the food here is made by the family who owns the place using like handed down family recipes because the level of the flavor and perfection that blew me and my partners minds. The portions are huge, the hummus is insane, the veggies were awesome, the only critique I could give is to serve heated pita with the meal as opposed to unheated pita.
…but you know how at some of these joints the pita and hummus is the best part of the meal? This spot is so freakin’ good, they don’t have any reason to even heat up that pita bread because it’s simply an accessory to like the best meal ever, not the thing used as a wonderful distraction from poorly marinated or like overly salted / overcooked kebab meats. Oh and the rice is insanely good by itself, I could have eaten like 5 containers of it because it’s just that good.
We live in Oceanside like an hour and a half south of where this spot is at, but we are already planning on going back for...
