I would like to start out this review by stating that I have never had an experience bad enough that would warrant a review, however I feel it is necessary for people to know what goes on at Micas restaurant so they can make an educated decision on whether or not to dine there. I have been to Micas two times in the past year and have received some of the most offensive and discriminatory experiences of my whole life. I also feel it is necessary for you to know that I have dined at Micas with no problem prior to these incidents. I am a Teacher from Atl, Ga and worked part time at a local kids camp in Cashiers on my summers off because I enjoy the local community and outdoors environment. I am familiar with all of the local restaurants. The first incident occurred after I returned from vacation in St. Augustine, Fl. I met some of my friends at Micas to have a few drinks and sit by the fire pit. I was immediately greeted by Nicole who was the bartender. She very loudly expressed she would not be serving me because she thought I was giving drinks to underage people the week prior. I tried expressing to her that I was in Florida that whole week, but she did not believe me and continued to embarrass me by accusing me of something that could potentially make me lose my job as an educator. She also did this in front of many customers which made the situation even worse. I politely explained the experience to the manager who told me that if she said it then it must be true. I took the higher road and left this restaurant very upset about this accusation. It took me a year to come back to this restaurant but I felt like I should give it another chance since I had some great experiences here prior to this absurdity. My fiancé and I drove to Cashiers to visit friends on 05/27/2017. We went to Groovin on the Green and then The Ugly Dog. Next, we made the decision to check out Micas. When we arrived there were no signs on the door stating they were closed and nobody that works there stopped us upon arrival to explain they were closing. We were all sitting around the fire pit when Nicole approached us and very rudely told us they were closed and we had to leave. She then added two people from my group were ok to stay because she was good with them. At this point I was angry about being discriminated against for a second time in front of my friends and fiancé for something I had no part of, so I told Nicole I would be writing a review this time. She looked at me and insulted my occupation as she followed us outside continuing to speak to my group as if we were hoodlums trying to cause a scene. All she had to do was politely say, "Hey guys we are closing, could you please make your way out?" We would have understood and made our way out with no problem. Instead she initiated attacking us verbally with the intention of causing a scene. To be fair, at this point Nicole and I shared a few words which is so uncharacteristic of me, but I felt I needed to stand up for myself this time. I still don't understand how someone could be so rude without hesitation over a misunderstanding. Trying to resolve this conflict respectfully has proven to not work. I am a respected special needs teacher in my community and have never caused any trouble my whole life. The fact that she went out of her way to degrade, discriminate, and publicly embarrass me and my friends is the reason for this review. I would like to add that this is not the only instance of her acting this way to other people dining at Micas. Do a little research and you will find other reviews like mine to prove my point is valid. I have no problem with the restaurant itself but there is a problem in the way this restaurant is managed. If I could give it negative stars I would for its lack of...
Read moreFood Very Good, Table Service Very Good, But the Greeting was not welcoming and can be improved. We had a good dinner there. The food was very good. I had the Onion Soup, which was good, but not great (A little salty), My trout entree and my girlfriend's grilled pork chop dinner were excellent. The house salad was also excellent with nice fresh ingredients. I tried calling several times during the day to see if reservations were advisable and no one answered the phone. They offer pick-up, but how can one place an order when no one answers the phone? Also, the hostess was not friendly and short when we arrived - not a welcoming vibe. She spoke to us more like employees than customers. There are also no seats for people waiting for a table, except for at the bar. Once we were seated, our waitress was very friendly, helpful and efficient. The prices were reasonable. Given the quality of the food and the service provided by our server, we will return. If I were the owner, I would work on the greetings people get when they arrive and be sure that someone answers the phone. After all, this is a patron's...
Read moreThe 1st time I went here I was really impressed a year ago so I decided to come back while in the area. I got the salmon BLT because it was so good last time. This time the meat was over cooked & dry. My friend got the wings and they were also over cooked & dry. The appetizer of bang shrimp was so amazing!! I would have loved to just have that. I will probably never get the salmon BLT again because I was ruined from it. I will never get the wings. The tea was also watered down and weak. It didn't even taste like tea. I will never pay for tea there again. I'm picky about my tea. The atmosphere is beautiful. The restaurant is gorgeous and inviting. They really need to work on not over cooking the meat. It's too expensive to be uneatable. I gave 3 stars in hopes that will be corrected because the restaurant was really good the 1st time I went. I know good help is hard to find these days, so I think we have all learned to be a little more patent. I would have gladly waited a little longer for my food to be prepared correctly than having whatever...
