We came here in mid March for a family spring break trip. We will absolutely be going back next year. The house was clean and as described. There was a full kitchen with everything we needed, a fireplace to make smores, a beautiful balcony overlooking the lake and small stream, and a huge spa tub in the lower bedroom. They took care to have everything we needed available to us including multiple dishwashing tabs, one small container of laundry detergent (yes, there is a washer and dryer in the townhome!), toilet paper and paper towels, and enough towels.
We were able to walk the property and fish in the little lake (no license required, but you will need one if you plan to fish off of the property). The additional amenities included mini golf, a small arcade, ping pong, pool tables, a heated indoor pool, saunas, two hot tubs, a playground and tennis/pickleball courts as well as a basketball court. None of it is particularly fancy but it is absolutely perfect for a cost effective family vacation. You will receive a small blue card in your welcome package that is needed for the rec center for these amenities. The recreation center is one mile down the road from the townhomes so you need to drive back and forth. This was not a problem for us and we went there every single day after spending the day exploring.
The nearest grocery store and tiny cute downtown is only a five minute drive. The nearest state park (gorges state park) is 13 minutes away and has a fantastic brand new amazing visitor center and gift shop.
There are NUMEROUS amazing waterfall parks within a 20-30 minute drive of the property and a really cool manmade snow tubing facility is less than an hour away (highlands outpost). Dry falls and glen falls are a must! They have an amazing small roller coaster there that you will want to ride over and over. Highlands, NC is within a half hour and has a great downtown to grab ice cream after a hike. Many beautiful scenic views of the mountains on the way there. We had a wonderful family vacation and plan to return with...
Read moreWe stayed at Foxhunt in Oct/Nov 2023 at Sapphire Valley through Wyndham Resorts. When we arrived the check-in place was closed, we had no indications in our reservations that there was a closing time. After searching around in the dark we opened a box and found a number to call. We had to drive another mile to a security center to get our keys and directions to our place. We then had to drive another mile to our place, it was pitch dark and the road was narrow, inclined and NOT LIT AT ALL and the signs hardly visible. The signs had no names just numbers so we had no idea where we were going. The building numbers had nothing to do with the townhome number (bldg 12 14XX ) There was no cell phone reception so imaps didn't work. It took us many u-turns and guesses to finally find the place. There was no light at the top of the stairs to the building and only weakly lit lights along the path that was covered in leaves. I had to use my phone to light the way. We never got a welcome for the whole week stay. The phone had 3 voicemails but we needed a passcode to retrieve them. When I called the front desk they said they didn't know how to retrieve voicemails and would let us know- never happened. We never got room service for the whole week- I guess the pandemic is still on??
The place was nice and large with 2 bedrooms. The master bedroom was downstairs so we had 2 flights of stairs to get to the den and kitchen. There was a nice balcony with chairs but only a view of another building. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils, pots and pans.
We had use of a recreation center a mile away with a weight room, indoor pool, game room and putt putt. Outdoor pool was closed for the season. You can also...
Read moreFirst the positive - reasonably priced, booking was generally easy, the condo was very nice (kitchen was well stocked with cooking items and modern), everything in the condor worked well, booking thru foxhunt gave you discounted skiing & tubing rates and included access to the community center that had a indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, sauna, arcade and put-put. I had an issue with my reservation and ultimately it was resolved. My family and I enjoyed out stay.
Second the interesting – things that we did not expect but were not a deal breaker. The checking in office is conveniently close to the skiing office but you have to drive about .5-1 mile down HWY 64. I though the condos would be in the same area as the booking office. If the main office is closed, there are instructions to check in at the Public Safety/Police station – I find this very odd uncomfortable from a privacy standpoint.
The negative – I had an issue with my initial reservation, and it took a lot of effort to get alignment and resolution of my issue. There were times it was difficult to get in touch with a representative or management or I had to keep following up. As mentioned above, the issue was...
