Dear Nicole We have been huge supporters of you and your hospitality service for years. On Friday June 16 we ate outside. It was obvious things were very busy and your wait team was understaffed. We had a young female serve us. I ordered “no onions” on my salad. About 45-60 minutes it and my meal arrived at my table. It had onions throughout the salad and I am very allergic to them. We removed the onions as the waitress was not to be seen for the 45 minutes we looked for her. When we were waiting for the check, it seemed like at least 30 minutes when we saw the server again and asked for the check. I also remarked that it was too long since we saw her. After waiting again for her, I asked the other male server for the check. We were now late for another function. A few minutes later an individual who represented himself as your manager approached me.he was confrontational and told me not to do speak to his staff so discourteously! He claimed I called the waitress “stupid.” Michele, that is not something I did, nor will ever do. Without learning more from us, the customers, he was both very abrasive and misinformed. Such a “story” by the waitress deflected any service complaint that we might generate about her to my wife and myself. But we would not have formally complained—never do because we knew your servers were “slammed” by so many customers to serve. We understand service issues when understaffed. What I found offensive was the confrontative nature of your manager. I suggested to him a “softer” way he could have reached out to us as though we were his friend and taken time to find out what might have happened as though we were respected friends (customers). He offered to reduce the amount of our check, but we absolutely declined and insisted we pay full price plus a 20% tip (which we did and always have done or more.) I share this with you so you are aware of the need to help your staff and manager to become more customer friendly. We are very confident that if you were there it would have been handled much more responsibly and...
Read moreWord of warning, they have a limited “ski slope” menu (their words) at times (such as today) which is drastically different from what is on the website. As the waitress helpfully explained, it’s mostly frozen food. They didn’t even have everything on their limited menu, at that; specifically, they didn’t have any chili on a cold day. This unfortunate circumstance led us to see some parties get up and leave after realizing the bait-and-switch.
Their truffle fries had no hint of truffle, and none of the food was any better than you’d find at the frozen food section at the grocery store. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t good either.
To make matters a bit more disappointing, on an evening when it was 29 degrees outside, it was 58 degrees in the restaurant. That’s not an exaggeration, that’s taken directly from their thermostat at the rear of the restaurant. Not exactly what you are looking forward to after a day outdoors.
All that said, the staff was helpful and polite. They were doing what they could with...
Read moreI escaped from NY and came to Cashiers in late June, and I have to say this restaurant is handling the Covid at the same level of where I came from. The best part to me is the massive indoor and outdoor space, so you can most definitely walk in and get a table - super convenient! I also love that all the food and drinks are reasonably priced. I really love the wings and local crafted beer. All the staff are really nice as well. Nicole and Jessica are always welcoming and super friendly. The guys at the bar are super nice too. They can also host events as well. I have recently attended a friend's 75th birthday that was held there. It's so nice of them to accommodate such a personal event under Covid. They also have live band music regularly. To me that definitely sets a mood and create a mountain theme that I'm looking for. Oh and It's literally at a bottom of ski slope so I can't wait to come back when winter hits and see what...
