Disappointing Experience – Unjustified Gratuity and Poor Service
We recently visited this restaurant as a group of four adults and two small children (ages 3 and 4), and unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. One of the biggest surprises came at the end of our meal when we noticed a 20% gratuity automatically added to our bill—without any mention or prior notice.
When we politely inquired, we were told it’s their policy for parties of six or more. However, it’s quite misleading to count toddlers as full diners in this context, especially since they didn’t require full meals or services. It felt like an unfair way to enforce a policy that clearly didn’t apply to our group in spirit, if not by technicality.
To make matters worse, the service was lacking throughout. Our server did not provide cutlery or napkins when we were seated, and we had to ask multiple times before anyone even came by our table. The overall attentiveness was poor, and it definitely didn’t warrant a 20% tip being automatically included.
We believe in tipping fairly for good service, and always do. But gratuity should be earned, not forced—especially when the service leaves so much...
Read moreI don't typically give bad reviews but the food wasn't very good. To give you an idea we normally go to Gyro 2 Go in Beaverton but we moved over to Hillsboro recently so wanted to try something close. This place had good reviews.
I got the Arabic chicken shawerma wrap. It basically had tasteless dry chicken in it. Barely any sauce. I did get sauce on the side but still. It was dry chicken thrown in a panini press.
My wife got the chicken shawerma plate and she said the chicken was also very very dry. The rice wasn't very tasteful either. She normally eats it all but she only ate half and hate throwing food out but we did.
Lastely we had the garlic fries. The garlic fries were pretty okay. It had feta on it so I expected a bit of sour but this seemed way over sour what were used to.
I have eaten Mediterranean food my entire life so this wasn't a case of "he doesn't know good Mediterranean". I would understand if it's made a bit different or something but the biggest thing was we spend about $55 including tip and the service was great but the chicken was dry and tasteless and the rice was tasteless.
I guess we'll still be driving to Beaverton for...
Read moreYum. Nice hole in the wall Lebanese place. Would be great for lunch or dinner. We had dinner. Started with Falafel and Humus. The Humus was delicate and smooth, an almost whipped texture with a subtil garlic hint. The Falafel was nearly perfect. Nice crunch that opened to warm flavor. The plate had 3 balls and a good amount of humus. Served with 2 breads. We stuck to the Beef schuarma and the Lamb Schuarma. Both served with Basmati Rice. The beef and lamb had great flavor. Good servings. Atop a bead of lettuce and an orange wedge. Though for decoration we squeezed it on our rice. The rice itself was a blend of basmati and saffron basmati. I liked the color it brought to the dishs. Together it made for a great meal. Then we did something out of the norm. We had dessert. She had the Oasis Special, Layered Cream and Cheese topped with rose water syrup. Yum, great finisher. I had the Baklava..... Yum...... Its Baklava so of course. But it was...
