Best Vietnamese restaurant in Hillsboro.
I've frequented all of the Viet restaurants in the area, and I think this is the best one. There are two head cooks here, and both really know what they're doing. Great place for lunch but really awesome dinners as well. Ask about daily specials, they aren't on the menu and are delicious. Saigon Bistro uses high quality fresh ingredients and offers them at a very reasonable price. Definitely authentic dishes. Yummy flavors I had not experienced before! They've also got Vietnamese coffee, smoothies, and Boba tea, if you're into that. Superb egg rolls, good Bahn Mi's. If you work at Intel and don't come here for lunch at least once a week, you're wrong.
Saigon Bistro for the win!!
Regarding Katherine - I can't help but comment that it's unfortunate to see reviews like these. Anyone who knows anything about pho knows that it does not have chunks of onions in it, only onion cooked into the broth, so there is no need to ask for "no onion." She probably lacks communication skills, but either way, sometimes I feel like the people in this world who can't appreciate onions simply have events like this one coming to them. It's too bad she feels the need to take a mistake to such exaggerated extremes. I've had the shrimp and it was top notch. And with her "bland" remark, I have a feeling Katherine has absolutely no culinary...
Read moreThis was my second time coming. My first time was great and I enjoyed the food. I came in and tried the Beef Pho Special during their happy hour. Very flavorful. But this SECOND TIME? Terrible. I came in, was seated promptly, and ordered quickly afterwards. I ASKED for the same order of BEEF PHO during their happy hour. Which the waitress said, "Okay" to.
Once the food came around. I see, meatball and brisket. I was confused but didn't think much of it because maybe they were trying to use up their remaining meat? I'm not sure. I was just hungry and wanted to EAT. As I get more into my bowl, I notice tripe. I dislike tripe outside of menudo and it threw me off seeing it inside of this bowl. My appetite went away soon after this.
Shortly after, I finish up with my partner and we check out. Tell me why I got charged $41.50. This is not the price of their special which is about $15.95? Something around there. I didn't cause a ruckus because I didn't feel like arguing over the pricing of this.
All I have to say is, I do not think I will be returning again. I don't understand why I was given the wrong bowl and then...
Read moreI asked for no onions and got a bowl of pho covered in onions. My son ordered the shrimp egg noodle and he was given beef egg noodles. It seems that they are understaffed for lunch hour. I should have taken note when a family left and cancelled their order because of the wait. Took over 30 min for the food to arrive. They tried to compensate by giving a ramekin of flan. It was ok. I would have preffered the guy to have redone my pho, but he was too busy so I spent a good 15 minutes digging out every tiny onion from my pho with my son. The flavor was ok, but very oniony and watery for a pho. They did give a good amount of meat and noodles though. The noodles for my son were tasty, but the shrimp was terrible. He couldn't even eat it. They were very bland and awkwardly chewy. I normally tip above 20% because I was a server in the past, but this was the first time I tipped only 10%. Service was slow, food was bland and it was frustrating to have to pick out onions, when I specifically asked for no onions in any of the food. The second star is only because the...
