I was pleasantly surprised with this place. I had driven by innumerable times through the years and barely gave it a thought. I figured that it was some run-down backroom dirty kitchen in a small room just off the bowling alley, specializing in greasy, prepackaged, unhealthy foods. This place is the complete opposite of that! It was a fair-sized quality restaurant servicing very tasty foods. It is probably the best place that I have been to in Hillsboro. A variety of foods. The fried pickles were the best that I have ever had at a restaurant. The philly cheesesteak was one of, if not the very best, I have ever had as well. The white cheddar mac and cheese did not disappoint either. It's definitely one of the best. The waitress was pleasant and provided very good service. I have every intention of returning again and again. Although I didn't get to sample my wife's steak, she assured me that it was quite good. I might know where to go when I am looking for a wonderful steak. I would have never imagined that I would enjoy looking into the bowling alley through a wall of windows as I ate, but the way it was done made my experience that much better. The view of the (what looked like) well-kept and well-decorated bowling alley made me think that I might pay a visit there someday as well. It's definitely a well-hidden gem in Hillsboro in the far corner of an otherwise ordinary-looking strip mall. The amount of space available for dining, as well as seating options, were also quite surprising.
Update: I finally tried the steak, and it was probably the best tasting steak that I...
Read moreI'm sad to say we tried the Alley 5 months ago and loved it. We have been there about 4 times now and every time the food has gotten worse and worse.
The ribeye sandwich was one of our favorites. the first 2 times was amazing but by the 3rd time it was mostly grissle and fat. However, what a terrible food experience yesterday. You used to have some of the best fried mushrooms ever but they came to us almost burnt and left to sit in the kitchen because by the time we got them they were barely warm/cold. Also, we decided to try the wings. They were awful. They came to us like day old overcooked reheated wings dried out like they were made from the day before. They were supposed to have been fried. Also pieces matter we ordered 12 wings and got 3 drumettes the rest was all the other parts of the wings.
I'm also sad to say you had a menu change since we were there last and dumped the potato skins and the quesadilla. Bad move.. Just why? Those new twisted sidewinder fries came cold and are super processed like cheap store bought kids fries.
Strike four. If I wanted frozen over processed cold, stale food I'm better off going to McDonalds and paying ten bucks instead of fifty. I'm sad to say you lost a customer.
Our waitress was very nice , staff was courteous but your kitchen needs to get it together. NONE of our food would have temped yesterday. That's a huge problem! It wasn't that busy mid afternoon. 😞 However the staff was...
Read moreFirst time visiting. The food was amazing, as was our waiter! We had a girl come over to get our drink orders but we hadn't looked at the menu. She never came back, but a male did and he was amazing (I couldn't help but notice the 2 tables across from us who had the girl were just sitting there forever until finally tracking her down themselves to get their checks) My husband raved about how his old fashioned was perfect and no one makes them that way. I had the bees knees and it was delicious as was my Hawaiian burger. My one actual complaint would be more fellow customer related as there was one single person at the bar area who turned the game up entirely too loud where we could no longer make out the music playing. There were a lot of customers there having dinner for one person to take over the place with the game. We would have hung out and had dessert, but he killed the mood.
Unfortunately the 5 stars didn't last. We've been back a couple times and the drinks were never made the same. Much worse now. Now the menu has changed and they offer tiny little smashburgers and rock hard cookies instead. We've taken it off the list of places we were regularly dropping $200 for family dinners. It's no...
