My family and I went to IHOP in Hillsborough on Saturday, June 19, 2021. We went to get my sister a full breakfast before work and we figured going to IHOP was the best bet. We arrived a little bit after 9 am and were seated quickly. The restaurant must've been at almost 90 - 95% capacity when we came. We were seated in the overflow dining room which was hot and humid until someone decided to put the air on. We had a really great server, named Evelyn. She promptly took our drink orders and we received them about 5 - 10 minutes later. When she took our food order, we assumed the same promptness would happen. During that time, several groups of people after us came in, were seated and received their meals and had left. We were the only table in the whole restaurant (at least to our knowledge) that had not received our meal. When we asked why our meals hadn't arrived the server told us she didn't know why even though her other tables had gotten their food. The kitchen claimed that they didn't receive our food order. But, then we were told that other tables ordered the same food which is ironic considering our order. We ordered a 55+ Turkey Bacon, French Toast with scrambled eggs; Chicken and Waffles with a side of strawberries, an order of red skin potatoes, side of turkey bacon; Another Chicken and Waffles; Chicken and Pancakes (3 stack) modified for Harvest Nut instead of Buttermilk and a side order of fries. With an order that was modified, how could other people order the exact same thing OR the kitchen not receive the order at all? My mom went to find the manager to see what was going on, to which he profusely apologized and offered to have the kitchen make the food but at that point we had been waiting for an hour and there wasn't enough time to wait for food to be made that should have been prepared when it was first ordered. It was disappointing and even though that was my favorite IHOP to visit, we probably won't be going back for a while. We appreciate our server and the manager for trying to make the best of the situation despite the...
Read moreMy wife and me visited this location on Monday. There were at least 8 waiters and waitresses. Meanwhile, we couldn't find our waiter when we needed him, TWICE. At check out, I was refused the senior discount, because they don't offer it if you take advantage of one of their "all you can eat pancakes" combos. We should've known this, since it's posted on some sign at the bottom of one the entrance doors, and on a slip of paper that's taped to the back of the cash register. I then asked for the discount on my wife's omelet. I was then told that every meal on the check is disqualified from getting the senior discount, as long as one person had an all you can eat pancakes combo. When I explained that there's always some song and dance in this place, the manager dug in his heels. I went on to explain that in essence, I was paying for the so called "free" pancakes. The $2.60 lost discount was offsetting the value of the free pancakes. All of sudden, the phantom waiter appeared, and added his input. Btw, more than once during this debacle, the manager suggested that if I wasn't happy, I shouldn't come back. In any event, after pointing out to waiter, that his service was substandard, I allowed him to pay for my "free" pancakes, by giving him a big goose egg. Next time we'll be off to the Hillsborough Star Diner. They never screw up, especially with their...
Read moreI hadn't gone to an IHOP in years. So my expectations weren't exactly that high. But when I came in I was delighted to find it that they had a revamp in the menu. It seemed a lot neater with more illustrations, and thinned down the choices while still keeping a consistent breakfast menu and dinner menu.
I was there for breakfast so I went with The chicken biscuit sandwich. I was actually quite surprised of the flavor palette. Being comprised of a biscuit, grilled chicken, pickles, and gravy. (On the side note this was my own fault, but you should definitely order something to drink with this as it's pretty dry.) The taste was really good. And I mean it was packed to the brim with juices.
It comes with either hash browns or fries. I chose the fries to go simple. One thing to keep in mind however is that because of how juicy it is, The gravy and the juices from the chicken will quickly wear down the integrity of the biscuit, making it easier to break apart. Other than that, I had a pretty...
