Alba Italian Grill — Restaurant in Hillsdale

I have eaten here many times. Tonight, I was flying solo and couldn't decide whether to take out or eat there. I had a drink at the bar and looked over the specials, after a few slips of my drink, I decided to take out. Lamb Osso Buco was a special and I never had it before and it sounded interesting. I asked what it came with...I was told potatoes, veggies, salad, etc. I said that sounds good...but very gave the bartender a confirmation I'd like that. It was 5:30 and starting to get crowded. Next thing I know the bartender delivers shopping bag with my order (which I didn't order, but was leaning that way). My drink was half done....I felt I was getting pushed out. I said to the bartender "I didn't place any order", she said I did, but she would hold it for me. Purpose I decided on something else, I said....no response.! Rather than make a fuss, I finished my drink, paid the bill and left. When I opened the container the mashed potatoes and vegetables were all meshed together with the Lamb shank sitting on top...not very appetizing....it tasted OK, just OK....not up to their standards. Bottom line.....I felt rushed because it was just me....one drink & take out! I would rethink...

It is a typical, Suburban Italian Restaurant, within Bergen County, NJ. Its menu is no different than any other Italian Restaurant and its presentation, quality and portion-sizes are no different than the competition. Generally, you get what you pay for and if you read the menu, you can choose something quite decent and reasonably affordable. It is not "Haute Cuisine" and does not pretend to be. The staff is perfunctory as is the service. I first went in November of 2023 and enjoyed myself as I was part of a Repast. One of the owners was rather pleasant and informative. I've gone a few times since and I shall go again. It is a restaurant and as such, it serves it purpose rather well. Go with the knowledge that restaurants are all aware of each other and so, menus, prices, quality, presentation, atmosphere, et al., are all going to be equal or at...

My mother, husband, 2 children and I came for dinner this past week. We are from out of town visiting family, but I wish we lived here because we would come to this restaurant every week. The hospitality and service was outstanding. Our server, who I believe may be the owner, was incredibly warm and accommodating to our family especially my 20 month old son. Brought out a special veggie tray for a “salad” prior to our meals for him, gave me extra wet paper towels to help with his face and hands, offered to make a special dessert for the kids. Just outstanding and warm service. We felt welcomed the entire time. The food was phenomenal too. Please try the gnocchi pesto and the Italian grilled cheese (appetizer).
