Karl Ehmer Quality Meats — Local services in Hillsdale

Coming from the Upper East Side of Manhattan where the original Karl Ehmer was a staple in Yorkville...... This place, as nice as the people are, doesn't hold a candle to the REAL Karl Ehmer. We were told that Ehmer basically went out of business yet, there are several suppliers that have product in this Store. One of which is Forrest Pork Store in Long Island. The items they carry are 3x the price from Forrest. Ehmer is GONE and there is no coming back from that. I guess it's really over. New manufacturers have just stamped the Ehmer name. Some special items are great. But be aware, as they are hiding expirations dates with price tags. We ate chocolate and got sick. Turns out the chocolate expired 5 years ago. Given the very high prices of the store in the first place they shouldn’t try to rip off customers to make more money. The store should be assessed for selling food beyond the expiration date. I have heard about this place for years and it was worth the wait. The hot dog stand out front is the appetizer. For $4 you get a super fresh hot dog. So many to choose from. I went back 3 times, then went inside to get a dozen to bring hime to grill. The place is amazing. Cannot wait to go back. Could be the best Hot Dog in NJ.
