I visited Lord's Bagels in Hillside, NJ, with the expectation of enjoying a quick and budget-friendly breakfast, but was taken aback by the additional costs that were not communicated upfront.
Arrived at 12:40
I ordered a rainbow bagel which, to my surprise, came with a $4 extra charge that wasn't mentioned prior. Additionally, I was charged $1.50 for "flavored cream cheese: plain" on my $15 platter, which seemed a bit steep. The fresh squeezed orange juice, priced at $6.99 for a 16oz serving, also contributed to the escalating bill.
The overall cost tallied up to $42 for two people, which was unexpected for what we assumed would be a modest breakfast outing. Despite the hidden costs, I must acknowledge that the bagels were delicious, and the establishment was clean and well-kept.
While the quality of food at Lord's Bagels is commendable, I believe better price transparency could significantly enhance the customer experience. It's essential for patrons to be aware of any additional costs to manage their expectations and budget accordingly. The staff needs to be better trained on the POS system and the menus need to be much clearer in what I am paying for. Especially when there are
As I am sitting here writing this I have now been handed the wrong order twice. It has been almost 20 minutes since I ordered and there has been ZERO communication what is taking my order so long. It's now 1:03

Read moreI hope I get to heaven today because it cost me a good donation at lords bagel. Close to $18 for a soda and bagel sandwich should have cost a few dollars less… First the bagel is nothing to rave about. It has no crust, the everything seems to be missing the garlic and salt ? The chicken on Elizabeth Cousin was dry I would compare it to a thin sliced Perdue cutlet nothing great. The sandwich came with three pickle slices and about 2 oz of coleslaw.
Overall I give it two stars for food. The cashier was friendly, didn’t offer any suggestions. The atmosphere was clean so that was a plus.
Not many places to choose from in the area that offers great food but I feel for the money this should have been a bit better all around. I don’t mind paying premium but I would expect a premium sandwich. The cost would probably keep me from coming back to this place. I do understand it’s new and with everything else it probably costs them a lot to keep the doors open these days. But as a customer I don’t see this place succeeding long term. I kinda left me wondering if my money really just went...
Read moreI was a bit excited when I saw this was opening near me. It’s so difficult to find a good bagel. In reading some reviews, apparently people think a bagel should be soft and chewy. If you want that, go to Dunkin’ Donuts. That being said, a good AUTHENTIC bagel should not be chewy, taste like a pretzel, have semolina granules on the bottom. A bagel should have a crisp outside and soft inside. These bagels are just chewy. When this store opened, I remember liking the bagels. Today, I ordered 2 multi grain, 2 plain, two blueberry , one cinnamon raisin. They all taste like a plain bagel. If I had my eyes closed, the blueberry tastes like plain. The multigrain tastes like plain except for the few oats thrown around on the outside. There is no hint of blueberry except for a few specs. And so tasteless. They remind me of a stop and shop bagel or Dunkin’ Donuts bagel. Both I despise. If you’re looking for an authentic bagel, this isn’t...
