Mama Joy’s Kitchen — Restaurant in Hilton Head Island

Order somewhere else….. Placed order at 4:57- restaurant didnt have it ready until 6:10. Estimated delivery time when I placed the order was 24-36 min. I only ordered 4 meals- two of which was the same. The dasher was extremely nice and informed me none of the dashers like taking orders from this place because they take so long. Apparently this place is a bar and gives priority to the people ordering at the bar over door dash orders. When I called, the woman who answered was extremely rude. Now on to the food. Shrimp, rice, fries and chicken were all room temp. (Actual drive time from resturant to my location was 7 min.) Pasta was hot. Shrimp was good. Fries were as expected. Mac and cheese was decent, nothing special. Deviled eggs were good- they had an unexpected sweetness to the filling. Chicken on the pasta was super dry. And the Alfredo was non existent. And I dont even like a lot of alfredo on my pasta, but you literally could not taste Alfredo at all. It tasted like butter noodles mostly with some melted cheese sprinkled here and there. Me and my family ordered delivery to our resort for dinner while we was visiting Hilton Head from WV. The menu wouldn’t let us select the sides for the fried chicken plate due to a glitch. The owner/cook herself called me from her personal cell phone and apologized and refunded for the sides and didn’t charge me for the inconvenience, which wasn’t a big deal in the first place. She was extremely nice !!!! I had the meatloaf plate with mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese, my sister had the fried chicken with the greens (which was seasoned perfectly to a t), and Mac n cheese, and my brother in law got the fried fish sandwich and Mac n cheese. You can definitely tell TLC went into this food, I have no complaints what so ever, every single thing was delicious. And also forgot to mention the cornbread we got was absolutely the best I’ve ever had. I could go on and on about this food. I’ll just put it this way, the food was so delicious I called the owner back and told her just how good it was and she was just the sweetest most grateful person. Definitely will be eating here multiple times before...

The food was good. The lady April that was working the bar had a horrible attitude. She was saying g that she did not get paid and she did not like her job. If she doesn’t like it there then she should get another job. She was cussing and throwing things. If I would’ve matched her energy it would’ve been a problem. Since she doesn’t like working there, do her a favor and let her go. I did not know taking food orders and making drinks was so difficult. Don’t keep people around who can potentially harm your business. April I hope you find a job that matches her skill set….whatever that may be because customer service is not it. It wasn’t our fault that the kitchen got our order wrong, she should’ve taken her frustration out on them. If we were the issue she could’ve been an adult and talked directly to us instead of complaining to the other customers.
