had an incredible experience at this restaurant! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and full of island charm. The staff were friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do.

The food? Absolutely phenomenal. The jerk chicken was perfectly spiced and smoky, with just the right amount of heat. The oxtail was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the rice and peas were flavorful and cooked to perfection. Don’t skip the fried plantains—they were golden, sweet, and the perfect side. I also tried the sorrel drink, and it was refreshing with just a hint of spice.

What really stood out was the authenticity—you can taste the love and tradition in every bite. It felt like a little piece of Jamaica right in the heart of the city. I’ll definitely be back soon, and I’ll be bringing friends!

The food? 10/10. The service? Also 10/10. I’ve tried the jerk, curry, and brown stew—all absolutely delicious. Every visit has been consistent, and that alone sets Irie Nyamminz apart from the rest.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff are genuinely friendly—always smiling and happy to see you. That kind of hospitality makes a difference, especially when so many other places feel rushed or rude.

Another thing I love is the name itself. “Nyam” means the same thing in Jamaica as it does here in the Gullah-Geechee Corridor—to eat. It’s a perfect reflection of the shared roots between the two cultures and a beautiful reminder of our connection.

I usually order too good to go from them, and every single item I’ve ever gotten from them has been filled to the brim and absolutely delightfully delicious. They always greet me and are kind. They’re one of my favorite places to come to for consistently yummy, quality food. I always get extra gravy and they deliver with the utmost of quality and flavor. I’m always excited to come back and they never disappoint. There’s so much love in the food that they make. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful too and inviting.
