Husband and I are what some may call foodies. We recently moved to the area and kept hearing how “AMAZING” this place is and that it is a must visit. When we walked in the owner looked at us, but a party of 5 was leaving. Each one stopped to talk and say goodbye to her. No big deal really, but then a group of guys walked in and as I was about to step back up to put our name on the list, she greeted them! They had a pager, but only 4 of the 6 were there. Then she spent about 5 mins talking to them about how she can’t seat them until they’re all there and then suggested they go to the bar across the street to wait. She also bragged about having her wine slushee so she can hide it in her cup and walk around outside. It was clear she was buzzed from alcohol. Finally they left and we were left standing there. She walked back to the bar to look at the list without acknowledging us. I walked up to her and she asked “did I put you on the list?”. She obviously saw us standing there. When she asked for our name, I gave her my initials. She looked at me like I was crazy and kept repeating like it was the weirdest thing ever. Finally got a pager and decided to check out the “grocery store” while we waited. Barely anything there, but the cashier was very nice. While we sat outside waiting, the owner/manager pounded on the window behind us very loudly several times. The pager never went off, but she obviously thought this behavior was acceptable! We went back inside to get our table and without looking us in the eye, she held her hand out and grabbed the pager and mumbled table 3b (I think??) pointing in a general direction. I had to guess where she was pointing. We sat down at what was two tables that were pushed together. Our server quickly greeted us and took our drink order. We ordered the pretzel which was very tasty. He ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and added a bratwurst. I ordered the creamy chicken with Spätzle and mixed greens salad. As we waited for our drinks and pretzel, the music was VERY loud and the owner used a microphone to yell at someone upstairs to “stop bouncing around on the POS”. Our food arrived and yuck! My “mixed green salad” was cold green beans, wilted iceberg lettuce in a somewhat creamy dill pickle brine. Our food was EXTREMELY salty, the mashed potatoes were obviously instant and the sauces (basically gravy) tasted like they bought a jar or at least the gravy mix from McCormick. My Spätzle was like wet play dough. The bratwurst came out about 20 mins after our meals. It also was not any good. We’ve enjoyed authentic German food. My company is German! This place, like others have already mentioned, is obviously taking advantage of people who do not know what real German food is like. Overly priced, sloppy and salty at best. The server was super awesome though; the only saving grace and the only reason I’m giving two stars. The owner/manager tanked it from the beginning and felt like she was saying a big fick dich to us. We tipped our server well, but we will not be going back unless it is under new ownership/management. Do not waste your money or time unless you happen to enjoy this type of food....
Read moreWorst restaurant experience in a long time. Stopped in Hinesville to see our kid who is in the military and decided to eat here. Wife's food was fantastic but everyone else's was nothing to write home about. Situation was this, waitress spilt a beer on the kid and droken glass and beer went all over him. We all know accidents happen and that's what it was. It was embarrassing for him and the waitress but, bur waitress handled the situation fine. When it came time for the bill we simply asked to have his meal removed or discounted on the account that we had more plans for the rest of the evening and now he had to go back to base and get cleaned up. After some time the owner came to our table and made a big scene in front of the restaurant. Saying who's the trouble maker over here etc.. and telling him to literally suck it up accidents happen. We tried to explain that we understood it was an accident but he was still covered in splintered glass and we simply wanted a little discount on behalf of the whole situation. She continued to making a scene of it stating that no food is free over a little spilt beer. At the end of it all I assume the it was the manager who removed his meal and we thanked him as he apologized for the owners behavior. It was bazaar to say the least, never had a manager act this way. We paid our bill and tipped the waitress as it should have been. After all ot was an accident but there is no excuse for the owners attitude. Would not recommend this restaurant and we will...
Read moreI’ve ordered take out from Zum many times but today I decided to dine-in. We weren’t greeted when we came in so we decided to sit at the two available spots at the bar. The restaurant was busy which is expected at lunch time but the young brunette who was working the floor passed us several times without greeting, providing menus or simply letting us know she’d be with us. She delivered multiple plates, took the order of a couple at the bar then returned to serving others on the floor. When she returned again she came to get cake slice for a guest and return to the floor again. At this point we’ve been sitting 15 minutes and another gentlemen comes in and sits at the bar. Both the brunette and blonde were behind the bar at this time and the blonde checked out another couple at the bar and then proceeded to help the man that had just walked-in. I made eye contact with the young blonde lady and she looked down noticing we didn’t have menus and still went on about her way. That is when I then decided to leave as this was a treat to my mother on her lunch hour that she unfortunately spent waiting for service we apparently weren’t ever going to get. I’m extremely disappointed in the customer service especially for this being a family owned business in...
